Bobby Eberle was an eyewitness to Flight 77 hitting the Pentagon |
What a coincidence.....
A: Yes, I think they're doing a good job. The president was put in a very difficult situation on Sept. 11. On that day I was here in Washington and saw More here. |

14. The Nashua Advocate |
is doing a TOP NOTCH JOB of staying on the case and dredging up info.

As you can see, Bobby was w-a-a-a-y late for his conference on September 11, 2001. the first plane did not crash until at least 8:46.AM which is ten whole minutes after the morning session started. Eyewitness to Tragedy by Bobby Eberle September 12, 2001 Although I live in Houston, Texas, I'm writing this column from an apartment in the Washington, DC area. I was here to attend the American Conservative Union's Policy Boot Camp. I thought I would leave filled with the excitement of hearing from policy experts on numerous topics ranging from social security and medicare to education and technology. Unfortunately, what I take with me is a permanent image of terror and tragedy which is burned into my mind: an image of a passenger airliner, flying low and fast, and headed straight for the Pentagon. On Tuesday morning, September 11, I was running late for my morning session. The television was on, and at about 9:00 am, we saw a report that an aircraft had struck one of the towers of the World Trade Center. My initial thought was, "Wow, what a freak accident." With that, my friend with whom I am staying and I were out the door. We set out in the car and immediately turned on the news radio to follow what was happening in New York City. After fifteen minutes into our trip, a new report came over the radio stating that a second aircraft (another passenger airliner) had struck the World Trade Center. This time, my thoughts shifted immediately from a freak accident to "this is a terrorist attack." My heart sank as I began to realize what was happening: those killed in the aircraft, those killed in the buildings, and the horror of the realization that this could happen in the first place. The route from where I'm staying to my conference hotel runs right by the Pentagon. As we slowly crept along in traffic at about 9:30 am, we rounded a bend and had the Pentagon in our sites -- right in front of us. We continued to listen to the radio to take in the latest news on what was happening. Riding in a convertable with the top down, I then heard a tremendously loud noise from behind me and to my left. I looked back and saw a jet airliner flying very low and very fast. It's amazing what can run through your mind in just a matter of seconds. As a pilot, I can't help but look at an airplane and think about airplane topics. What I saw sent a shiver down my spine as I realized something was not right. The aircraft was so very low -- as an aircraft would be on its final approach to an airport. However, if you have watched any aircraft come in for a landing, even though the aircraft is descending, it is angled up slightly. This aircraft was angled downward. In addition, landing gear would also be visible on a aircraft so low and so near landing. This aircraft had its landing gear retracted. Finally, an aircraft on final approach is traveling rather slowly. This aircraft sped by very loudly and very quickly. All of this flashed in my mind as the aircraft passed from behind my left shoulder to in front of me. It was then that the other events of the morning crystallized in the realization that tragedy was about to occur. With all of these images spinning in my head, the only words that came out of my mouth were "Oh no!" With that, the airliner crashed into the Pentagon and exploded. I shouted to my friend whose view was partially blocked by a truck in front of us, "Oh my gosh! The jet just hit the Pentagon!" Much of the traffic stopped immediately, and the stunned looks on people's faces are unforgettable. Many picked up their cell phones, presumably to contact friends and loved ones. I did the same, but I could not get through... http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2001/bobby_0912.shtml Now, More Than Ever, America Needs a Missile Defense System September 19, 2001 With a strategic and theater missile defense system in place, the second scenario described above would likely have a completely different outcome. Missiles launched against Israel, or long-range missiles launched against the United States could be destroyed, and American conventional forces could do the job they were ordered to do. By significantly reducing the threat of nuclear missile attack, America can remain the lone superpower on this planet. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2001/bobby_0919.shtml The Pentagon, Black Helicopters, and the Bermuda Triangle By Bobby Eberle April 1, 2002 As strange as this seems, there are groups of people out there who claim that Flight 77 did NOT crash into the Pentagon as the media and eyewitnesses have reported. An e-mail was forwarded to me by a GOPUSA associate in which the writer stated the following "Having personally observed some major aircraft crash sites, these photos raise serious questions in my mind. The apparent lack of penetration bothers me." The writer was referring to a web site located at http://www.asile.org/citoyens/numero13/pentagone/erreurs_en.htm which attempts to show by photographic evidence that the Boeing jet is somehow "missing" from the scene. When I checked out this web site, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and reading. I guess the "black helicopter" crowd is alive and well. Now, I could bring my eight years of aerospace engineering education to bear on the claims of this web site, but that wouldn't be any fun to anyone. (Except maybe my fellow geeks out there.) Instead, there is this little thing known as "first hand experience" which casts a shadow on their theories. It seems that God works in mysterious ways. For much of 2000 and 2001, I decided to cut back dramatically on my political traveling. I wanted to focus on two things and two things only: my family and GOPUSA. Around August of 2001, I felt that it was time to start traveling a little bit more to educate folks about GOPUSA in person. So, my first out-of-state trip was planned for Washington, DC to visit congressional offices and attend the American Conservative Union's "Policy Boot Camp" from September 9-11, 2001. For those who have not read my account of what I saw as I was on the highway near the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, please read "Eyewitness to Tragedy" on the GOPUSA web site. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2002/bobby_0401.shtml Remembering September 11 By Bobby Eberle September 11, 2002 What a fun night it was at the policy conference I was attending: mixing and mingling with conservative journalists from the Washington, DC area; joining them in peppering Republican candidates with policy questions at the evening reception; and enjoying conversations with friends whom I had not seen in some time. It was a great Monday evening, September 10, 2001. All of these feelings from the night before changed dramatically the following morning as I watched Flight 77 fly only a couple hundred feet over my head, crash into the Pentagon, and explode in a fiery ball right in front of my eyes. It seems surreal to think about it now, and it definitely felt so at the time. Seeing a plane crash is not something most people witness. Seeing a plane crash under the circumstances surrounding September 11 is unbelievable. Yet, that's what I saw, and I hope that I never, ever see something like that again. The images are as clear now as the day they happened. The roar of the jet engines is still as loud. The "pop" of the explosion is still as haunting. The colors of the flame are still as vivid as they flashed from bright red and orange to thick, black smoke. Traffic on the highway came to an immediate halt. People left their cars to see what was happening. They tried desperately to contact friends, colleagues, and loved-ones, but to no avail. Mobile phone lines were jammed and no one, including myself, could get through. The look on the woman's face behind our car is forever burned in my brain. Tears were running down her face as she stared forward and cried. She didn't move; she was frozen with fear or disbelief or a combination of the two. I still shake when I think about the events of September 11, 2001 -- not only from my own personal experiences, but also from the images brought to us throughout the days and weeks following the attacks. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2002/bobby_0911.shtml A 9-11 Memory Will Never Fade By Bobby Eberle September 8, 2003 As a resident of Houston, Texas and doing the work that I do, I am not a frequent traveler. I had visited our nation's capitol several times over the years, the most recent trip prior to 9-11-01 being the presidential inauguration in January. That trip was a thrill to say the least, and as my wife and I returned home, I was already looking forward to future trips to Washington. In September 2001, as my company began to grow and reach more people, I thought the timing was right to return to Washington to promote the venture on Capitol Hill. I was invited to attend a conference in DC which was scheduled for September 9-11, and I knew that would be the perfect occasion to do some corporate promoting in addition to attending the conference events. September 11, 2001 was a bright and brilliant day in Washington, DC. I had enjoyed two full days of policy briefings and discussions, and on that Tuesday, I was looking forward to doing something a bit different. After briefly attending the final day of the conference in the morning, my plan was to spend the rest of the day seeing the marvelous sights that Washington, DC has to offer and visiting Capitol Hill. Driving in from Virginia with the top down on my friend's convertible, I was enjoying the clear blue sky and crisp air. I also paid moderate attention to the news radio station that my friend tuned in. I'm not a regular listener of news radio, but that morning was different. We had already seen reports on television of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center. We thought it was a very odd event, so we dialed in the news as we drove into town. At about 9:15 a.m., we heard reports of the second attack. There was no doubt in our minds that America was now the victim of terrorism. What we did not realize was that the attacks were not over. We would learn that soon enough. With the Pentagon in sight, the roar of jet engines quickly filled the air. I looked over my left shoulder and saw the aircraft only a couple hundred feet over head. It was so loud and so low and so fast, and I knew in an instant that something was terribly wrong. I wanted to scream, but the only words that would come out were "Oh no." A few seconds later, American Airlines Flight 77 flew into the Pentagon and exploded in a burst of flame right in front of my eyes. Traffic on the freeway ground to a halt as people started to comprehend the meaning of black smoke pouring from the Pentagon. Tears streamed down the face of the woman in the car behind us. She looked ahead in utter shock and seemed frozen in time. I could not help but wonder if another attack was headed our way. Every loud noise caused me to jump, and I found myself looking to the horizon to see if another plane was coming. I was a zombie for the rest of the day -- glued to the television, just waiting for something new to be reported. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2003/bobby_0908.shtml Lest We Forget By Bobby Eberle April 26, 2004 It was a bright, beautiful day in Washington, DC. Not a single cloud could be found in the blue sky that welcomed in the late summer day. On that Tuesday morning, I rode in my friend's convertible with the top down, soaking in the sun and taking in the crisp, fresh air. I was on my way to the final session of a political conference being held in a hotel near the Pentagon. On the radio, we listened to a very unusual story about a plane which had just hit one of the towers of the World Trade Center. The date was September 11, 2001. Along the way, mixed in with the sounds of the open road, news reports began to tell of a second plane hitting the second World Trade Center tower. Instantly, we knew that America was under attack, but instant knowledge doesn't necessarily lead to instant acceptance. How could this happen? Who was behind it? What would America do next? These were the questions racing through my mind, when, in a moment that changed my life, the news story that I was just listening to became a terrible reality. We heard the loud roar of a jet airplane, and from behind my left shoulder, I saw an image I will never forget. In the span of just a few seconds, I saw American Airlines Flight 77 fly right in front of me and crash in a fiery explosion into the Pentagon. Not only was America attacked, but we were still being attacked. Every loud noise I heard seemed like another aircraft heading toward a target. It was a terrible day -- terrible not just for the lives that were lost, but terrible for what it did to America. We lost our innocence on that day, and in its place sits a resolve for justice and an ache for revenge. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2004/bobby_0426.shtml Speech Delivered at the GOPUSA Conservative Conference By Bobby Eberle November 3, 2003 Even though I live in Houston, TX, back on September 11, 2001, I was here in DC. I was attending a policy conference for candidates hosted by Kerri and the American Conservative Union. Although I was not a candidate, I attended the conference partly to get some education on policy but also to spend some time promoting GOPUSA at the Capitol. I stayed with a friend in Virginia, and as we were about to leave her apartment, we saw the report on the news about the first plane hitting the World Trade Center. We hopped in her convertible, and put the top down as it was a beautiful, clear day. At about 9:15, as we listened to the radio, we heard the reports of the second plane in New York. We knew at that instant that terrorists were attacking America. What we didn't know was that another attack was on its way. As we headed down the highway, I had the Pentagon in sight, and then I heard a roar overhead unlike anything I ever heard before. Looking back over my left shoulder I saw American Flight 77 flying only a couple hundred feet off the ground. The plane flew from my left shoulder to right in front of me and crashed before my eyes into the Pentagon. Everybody was completely stunned and a number of cars, including ours, pulled over so that the drivers could grasp what had just happened. I'll never forget that day as long as I live. The events of that day only further my resolve that America must be strong in the face of terrorism even if it means that at times, we are alone in our fight for freedom. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2003/bobby_1103.shtml A Time of Joy in a World of Terror By Bobby Eberle December 22, 2003 We are all residents of a new world. We may look back on times of old with fondness, but we can never recreate them. As Americans, we are forward-looking by nature, and despite the threats that hang in the air, the only thing we know how to do as a nation is to fight on. And fight we will. The terrorists started a fight in which they knew not the strength of their opponent. The terrorists started a fight, hoping that fear and uncertainty would weaken the American spirit. Instead, the terrorists saw the true face of America -- a face of resolve, a face of hope, and an unwavering strength to fight for freedom. After seeing American Airlines Flight 77 crash into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, I know first-hand the evil that exists in this world. As an American, I know first-hand the good that guides us and the spirit that protects us. We are blessed in this world, and thus, we are targets. But let it be known to all who would attempt to shake us that we will not fear. I pray that we will win this fight and our children will live in a world free from danger. We owe it to them to continue the fight against terror. I know when I hug my children during this Christmas season, I will hug them with all the love and emotion that I've felt for them on Christmases past. However, this time, I'll hug them each a little tighter. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2003/bobby_1222.shtml 9/11 Commission's Credibility at Stake with Recent Actions By Bobby Eberle April 12, 2004 Discovering and correcting the intelligence failures that led to the attacks of September 11, 2001 is something that is vitally important to me and all Americans. As someone who saw al Qaeda's work first hand when Flight 77 exploded in front of my eyes into the Pentagon, I was hoping that the 9/11 Commission could put partisan differences aside and come up with analysis and recommendations that could help prevent future attacks. If the actions of the commissioners degenerate into blatantly partisan attacks for cheap political gain, then not only are the recommendations called into question, but America will not be as safe as it could be. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2004/bobby_0412p.shtml Kerry's Hindsight Betrays the Horror of 9/11 By Bobby Eberle August 9, 2004 It was a beautiful Tuesday morning in Washington, DC. The sky was blue; the air was crisp; and millions of Americans were making their way to their jobs just like they did on any other day. But this was no ordinary day. In fact it was a day that would change my life and change the course of American history. On this day, September 11, 2001, I rode with the top down in my friend's convertible along the highway toward the Pentagon. As I listened in disbelief to the radio reports of terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, I was snapped back into reality by the roar of jet engines only a couple hundred feet above my head. Flight 77 then crashed in front of my eyes in a fiery explosion into the Pentagon. I sat stunned in the car as we pulled to the side of the freeway. I looked around only to see more stunned looks -- some eyes wide with shock, others streaming with tears. Earlier, when President Bush received word of the second World Trade Center attack, he sat for seven minutes taking in what had just happened and fulfilling his obligation to the Florida students to whom he was reading. I sat in shock, and the president calmly sat and contemplated his next move. We now know, however, that had John Kerry been president, he would have acted -- and he would have done so immediately. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2004/bobby_0809.shtml The author of these fine eyewitness statements? Bobby Eberle, President and CEO of GOPUSA. I have speculated that at least some of the witnesses to the crash of Flight 77 into the Pentagon were ringers planted by the conspirators. What are the chances that Eberle, whose name has come up prominently in Gannongate, was an eyewitness to the crash? Those who are so certain that the testimony of eyewitnesses means that Flight 77 must have crashed into the Pentagon, despite the enormous amount of physical evidence to the contrary, just might want to give their heads a shake and rethink things. If the evidence of the crash of Flight 77 is so goddamn clear, why did the operators in the Republican Party feel the need to gild the lily? http://xymphora.blogspot.com/2005/02/bobby-eberle-eyewitness.html ******** We still have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER as to how Bobby Eberle gets the funding for GOPIMPUSA. neither the subscribers nor the advertisers pay anything, and no taxman comes a-knocking. Al Capone would be as envious of Bobby Eberle as MoDo is of Bush's Barberini faun. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1345280/posts ******** Speech Delivered at the GOPUSA Conservative Conference By Bobby Eberle November 3, 2003 Below is the prepared text for a speech that was delivered at the Awards Banquet of the GOPUSA Conservative Conference on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC. Thank you Kerri. I deeply appreciate that kind introduction. This is a very special moment for me as President and CEO of GOPUSA. Considering that the GOPUSA everyone knows was only born a little over three years ago, we have come a long way in a very short time. Three years ago, we started sending out news and commentary updates to about 400 people. Now, we reach well over 50,000 people everyday. Back in September 2000, we had approximately 3,000 pageviews for the entire month; now we average about 30,000 pageviews per day. What I find most impressive about this growth is that we've done it without paid advertising. We continue to reach more and more people simply through word of mouth from grassroots activists just like you. Our vision at GOPUSA is to inform and educate by "bringing the conservative message to America." The idea of hosting a conservative conference was always part of that original vision, and even though I'm standing here at this banquet, it is still hard for me to believe that we pulled it off. But we did it, and there will be more great conferences to come. As with all things at GOPUSA, we were able to put this conference together by assembling a great team. First, we needed financial and promotional help, and for that, I am deeply grateful to our sponsors. In particular, I'd like to thank: Americans for Tax Reform The Heritage Foundation Americans for Fair Taxation Townhall.com 60 Plus Association Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson CampaignSecrets.com Citizen Outreach ConservativePetitions.com The conference also could not have been possible without the hard work of Mark Anderes and Patty McDorman at Original Occasions. The two of them worked tirelessly to help ensure that our plans for this conference would come to fruition. If you are planning events in this area, I'd highly recommend them. I'd also like to thank my wife Kathleen, who has supported me throughout the entire growth of GOPUSA. She is still amazed at the things we've accomplished, but she is getting harder and harder to impress. Pretty soon, I'll have to bring the president home for dinner in order for her to notice. Finally, I'd like to thank the GOPUSA team. Would everyone who is part of GOPUSA, please stand. I may be up here giving this speech, but the success of GOPUSA is due to the contributions of the entire team. GOPUSA is unique in that it is a team of volunteers dedicated to promoting conservative ideals. Please join me in thanking the team. Now, I'd like to take this time to present two special awards. These awards will hopefully be annual presentations, and if the recipients of this year's awards are any indication of the caliber of future recipients, then GOPUSA has something great to look forward to. Our first presentation is for the GOPUSA Conservative Leadership Award. This award represents GOPUSA's highest honor, and it recognizes outstanding achievement in conservative politics and policy, whether in elective office or in the private sector. I've personally known tonight's recipient for about 3 years. We first met when we were campaigning for Bush-Cheney in Seattle, Washington in 2000. We had a great time, and I soon learned the depth of her knowledge of both politics and policy. She has served as the National Field Director for the American Conservative Union. She has also served as the Executive Director of State Policy Network and Director of External Affairs for Dallas' Institute for Policy Innovation. She has provided issues analysis and policy research for think tanks and the White House. Her writings have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, The Dallas Morning News, Forbes magazine, GOPUSA.com, and countless other publications. She has appeared on Fox News and MSNBC, and was a frequent guest on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. She was nominated to serve on the President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security and currently serves as the Vice President of Policy for Frontiers of Freedom. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to present the first GOPUSA Conservative Leadership Award to Kerri Houston. (Present award and invite Kerri to comment.) As I explained earlier, GOPUSA is all about teamwork. The entire company consists of a nationwide network of volunteers who take time out of their regular schedules to help promote the conservative message. It is through the work of the entire team that GOPUSA is a success. Because of the team nature of GOPUSA, part of the purpose of this conference was for the team to get together to discuss and share ideas and to learn from each other. The conference is also the perfect setting to recognize and honor the outstanding contributions from the team. So, in addition to the Conservative Leadership Award, GOPUSA has also created the Outstanding Team Member Award. The recipient must be a member of the GOPUSA team and have demonstrated service to GOPUSA above and beyond the normal duties of a GOPUSA volunteer. Just as with the Conservative Leadership Award, the winner of the Outstanding Team Member Award was an easy choice. To give you a better perspective of the accomplishments of this person, we need to step back in time about a year and a half. The GOPUSA website and community was always designed to be a combination of resources. We aren't just news, and we aren't just commentary, but rather a unique combination of news, information, commentary, and community. Now, admittedly, my focus tends to center on the news and commentary aspects of the website. But, from day one, we also had a discussion board or forum for website visitors to discuss the issues of the day. But, just because it existed doesn't mean that it flourished. Back in January of 2002, the forum section of GOPUSA registered 317 pageviews for the entire month. In February of 2002, the number was 312, and in March the number was 320. Around this time, I received an e-mail from a person who said she had worked as a moderator and forum administrator for a number of websites and now wanted to come on board with GOPUSA. Now, I was a little hesitant to bring someone unknown on board for this position. She says I completely ignored her initial e-mails, but I'm sure I wrote something pleasant to her and told her that I would think about it. However, she kept at it, and in April of 2002, we revamped the Forum section of the website and brought her on as Forum administrator. From the average of about 316 pageviews per month for the previous three months, the April 2002 pageviews for the Forum jumped to over 15,000. By February 2003, the number rose to over 70,000 pageviews. In May of this year, the Forum recorded over 233,000 pageviews. Beginning as an afterthought, the Forum now represents a significant part of the GOPUSA website, and the members of the Forum truly feel that they are part of the GOPUSA family. In addition to serving as Forum Administrator, this person also serves as GOPUSA's Opinion Editor and Colorado State Editor. She works tirelessly for the conservative cause. Please join me in recognizing the recipient of the 2003 GOPUSA Outstanding Team Member Award -- Terri Hillhouse. (Present award and invite Terri to comment.) Before we move forward and start the hard work of the 2004 elections, we should all take a step back and think about why we're doing what we're doing. What drives us? Why are we in this room? What are we fighting for? As conservatives, we know that each election is more than just about winning or losing. It's about advancing our cause. It's about fighting for the future. We strive for a better America, and as we work for candidates or as we run for office, let us never lose sight of our focus and our end goals. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/bobby/2003/bobby_1103.shtml |

15. I know they us and want us all dead but |
the right wing appears to have taken a terrible hit on September 11, 2001.
Just see how many of them lost a close family member or friend. The names on this webpage are as prominent and trustworthy as Bobby Eberle. http://www.911familiesforamerica.org/GBookArchivePg1.html Who knew that so many GOP supporters would suffer so greatly? Since the letter that that is referenced in the link above is now somewhat difficult to come by, here it is in its entirety. An Open Letter to the American People (Because of his steady leadership, President Bush has the support of hundreds of family members of September 11 victims. They have drafted an open letter to the American people and we are pleased to share that letter with you.) Three years ago, on the day that began as a beautiful September morning, 19 men and their sponsors carried out a brutal and devastating attack on our country, leaving 3,000 innocent men, women and children dead, including our loved ones. In those first agonizing hours, and for weeks and months afterward as we searched for word of their fate, we were aware that the shock and horror of that day was not ours alone. With a gratitude we could not yet express, we felt the strong and steady embrace of our fellow Americans. The words, “Never forget,” defiantly written in dust or humbly penned on makeshift memorials, were also permanently etched in our hearts. We will never forget your strength, your courage and your endless generosity. We speak to you now in the same spirit that you spoke to us then, as Americans, united on behalf of our country. Like many of you, we feel that our nation is poised at a critical moment in history. Like our parents and grandparents before us, we know that the choices we make today will affect our children tomorrow. But we face a new challenge, a new kind of war and an enemy who is different from the enemies faced by earlier generations. This is not an adversary who can be reasoned with or appeased, this is an adversary who has repeatedly demonstrated that its means and ends are one and the same: the wanton slaughter of innocents. After the attack, President Bush articulated the primary lesson of September 11, that simply reacting to danger after lives are lost is a weak and unacceptable national defense. He believes that taking the fight to the enemy is the best way to ensure that the enemy will not bring death to our doorstep here at home. We agree. Under the President‘s strong leadership in the war on terror and through the heroic efforts of our military forces, we are a safer country today. Two-thirds of al Qaeda leadership is dead, incarcerated, or on the run, its financing disrupted. The Taliban has been removed from power and training camps in Afghanistan and Iraq have been eliminated. On the domestic front, our dedicated law enforcement agencies are finally able to fight terror the same way they go after drug cartels; terrorists and terrorist cells have been thwarted in upstate New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Illinois and Florida. The 9/11 Commission has provided this nation with a solid blueprint for going forward in the war on terror. It described the threat that killed our loved ones as a “gathering storm” which went unrecognized and unchecked for too many years and characterized the inability to predict the attack itself as a “failure of imagination.” Looking forward, the Commission offered this pointed warning, “Once the danger has fully materialized, evident to all, mobilizing action is easier--but it then may be too late.” Through the prism of 9/11 and presaging the Commission’s conclusion, President Bush looked at Iraq and Saddam Hussein’s history, his willingness to use chemical weapons in the mass murder of his own citizens, his notorious attempts to acquire nuclear weapons, his record of giving financial aid and sanctuary to global terrorists--including members of al Qaeda--and his repeated refusal to cooperate with U.N. inspectors. He determined that this repressive regime was an intolerable danger to our country. Rather than waiting until it was too late to prevent a fully materialized threat, the President acted. We believe history will support the President’s decision. We speak to you from the heart, as citizens from all across the country and every political stripe. We are Republicans and Democrats, “liberals” and “conservatives,” young and old. We are mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters and friends. We speak out from a profound sense of obligation to those we have lost and to the country that we love. Guided by core principles, President Bush has steadfastly told us who he is, what he believes and what he will fight for. He is a caring and decisive leader who is not afraid to make hard choices to keep this nation safe, by keeping it strong. He has sent a clear message to America’s friends and foes that he will not waver in his resolve as the winds of political fortune change. He will not revert to the failed policies of the past which only served to whet the appetite of those who would destroy us. He will stand firm against our adversaries. As Americans who have keenly felt the scourge of terrorism, we are inspired and energized to follow the President’s lead, to rise to the occasion and get the job done. We are deeply grateful to President Bush, who rallied this nation on that dark September day, who has earned our respect and confidence, and whose leadership we trust to steer this country on the right path. Three years ago, George W. Bush stood with us and vowed that he would “Never forget.” We stand with him now.
