AN Australian September 11 ghoul has been condemned for attempting to sell what he claims was a piece of an aircraft that crashed into New York's World Trade Centre.
The man demanded almost $260,000 on auction website eBay for a piece of the turbine blade of American Airlines Flight 11, which smashed in the centre's north tower on September 11, 2001. Melbourne man Paul Gyulavary, whose twin brother Peter was killed in the 9/11 attack, said he felt pity and contempt for the would-be terror profiteer.
The seller, an unidentified person from Adelaide, put the item on eBay on Tuesday, with the starting bid of more than $259,000. The seller said the piece of turbine blade had been recovered from a building rooftop, 800m from the Twin Towers.
The seller, who goes by the handle "jamesp4894", did not receive any bids within the first 24 hours, but 175 people visited the page -- an unusually high number of hits in one day for an item not advertised.
