help me out here...
Okay so hubby and I just flew to DC for vacation (which was good)

But we both really were messed up about something for a minute after getting off the plane which we later discussed.

Okay so we are from Louisville, which is where we got on the plane. I sat next to a dark haired olive skinned man, he seemed nervous, but I struck a conversation and learned he was from yugoslavia. I asked if he was traveling alone and he said no and pointed to the man in front of him as his traveling buddy who was also from yugoslavia. He was really careful about the things he was saying and at first I thought it was a language barrier. Mid flight he seemed really nervous about some turbulence and so I told him how much I hated that as well. Then he said, "This is my first flight in a commercial airplane" Okay, so call me stupid, but how the hell did he get to America? So I asked at which point he became really hesitant and stopped talking to me. My husband thought this was really weird but I thought maybe I'm just being nosy and asking to many questions.

His friend in front of him was sitting next to a coworker I had about 3 years ago. We actually saw him in DC at Hard Rock Cafe and had lunch with him and his wife. He told me that the friend had told him he was going to a military school in Frankfort. Justin started asking which one and he told him they had been enlisted by the US Army and brought to America. That is when I realized that the man I spoke with had been flown in on a military transport, not a commercial flight. So, here is where I'm trying to figure things out. Both men could easily have been mistaken for middleeastern to the average american. Both men were careful about what they would talk about. Then I find out that they are being trained by the US Army. Has anyone else heard of this type of thing and what do you know about it?

Not putting the tinfoil on yet but they more I think about it the more it seems strange.

2. What? Yugoslavia does exist. Its called the Yugoslavia rather than
The federal republic of Yugoslavia like it was. Its basically the Serbis bit of the Balkans.

And why do you wonder if they were muslims.
And why does that sound strange.

Some American people started asking me loads of questions i'd get nervous, because to non-Americans that often signals detention and "interrogation".

9. why was my post deleted?
I merely pointed out that Yugoslavia doesn't exist anymore-- it is now different republics and is called the former yugoslavia.

Then I said muslims lived in the former yugoslavia-- i.e. kosovo

Then I said I hoped the US wasn't training muslim terrorists, which was consistent with the original post and is no more inflammatory than any other idea expressed on this board.

3. You want to relax a bit and stop interfering in other peoples business
How on earth could or would the average America mistake someone from Yugoslavis, EUROPE, A SLAV, for someone from the middle east?

5. If by looks alone...An average american
would mistake these men as middle eastern due to the dark skin and hair. that is beside the point. I want to know about the military school they go to. He said yugoslavia. No doubt about that. He was more nervous of the flight than me, he in fact warmed up to me nicely.
I didn't interrogate him, just made small talk. Guess you had to be there to understand.

7. I'm astonished that people from the Balkans could be mistaken for people
from the Middle East, in America. Thats pure ignorance. People need to get out more.

Dark skin dark hair = Middle East. Is that just because its in the news so much. This man was a Slav. I'd say he looks nothing like someone from the middle east.

What about Italians? Or Celts? Or the French? or Spanish? Or Greeks? or Bulgarians, or Romanians?......

A quite innocent man cannot take a flight to America (a free country alledgedly) and not be questioned by one of its citizens on route and be suspected of being a terrorist due to dark hair and an accent and from a country that the said American doesn't believe exists anymore, but in fact does.

Dear God what a place
