I believe 93 was supposed to hit WTC 7. The main reason is that the math works out. 4 Hijacked planes = 4 downed buildings. The only problem, 93 was the bullet that missed it's mark and 7 was shot and killed but never hit by a bullet. Out of all of the buildings 93 could have been aimed at, WTC7 would be the most logical.
Secondly, aside from the "fuzzy" logic. WTC7 contained, not only the things listedin Post #4, but the command bunker which may have been used to coordinate the attack. If this was an inside job, there could be no better place to control the operation then from the command bunker. The blast resistant windows, self-contained life-support and power systems would have made this an ideal location to oversee the attack. This theory obviously cannot be proved since the building collapsed taking any evidence with it.
Another reason to believe that 93 may have been the target was the numerous reports of another plane heading for New York. In the Naudet film they make mention of the plane and there is also this account.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/991"They turned us around and told us to form up on the Brooklyn Bridge. We got to the bridge and they started sending us over 1 company at a time. When the company in front of you got to mid-span the next company started out. The reason for this was we were told another plane was inbound and if they hit the bridge they did'nt want a bottleneck of us on it. We were just past mid-span when the second tower collapsed. I look back at it now and that half hour we were stuck in traffic probably saved a few lives."It was reported that 93 was headed for Washinton and in fact the Secret Service broke over the Air Patrols radio and told them to protect the White House at all costs. There was no earthly way for them to know where 93 was headed. The only reported transmissions from 93 that indicated any direction was when the pilots said they were retruning to the airport. They took off from New Jersey. If this was the only transmission, ordering the pilots to protect the White House was a precautionary measure at best or possibly a diversion.
The Otis flight group was supposedly covering New York at the time but I can find no eyewitness accounts that confirm this. Here are the eyewitness accounts of the people who saw the Fighter planes arrive over New York airspace and reveal thier presence.
"A loud roar overhead causes everyone around me to stop walking and look around urgently, some ducking. It takes a moment but I see an F18 fighter circling the tip of Manhattan. I think I should feel safer but I suddenly grasp a new way of life where Manhattan needs to be patrolled by fighter jets.
You could easily spot anyone who was walking up from the trade center because they were covered in what looked like volcanic soot...some with small wounds wrapped in handkerchiefs or make-shift bandages....and many, many people walking around dazed or crying or just shaking their heads talking to themselves."
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/10103As we reached the southern tip of Manhattan, we looked straight ahead as saw a most wonderful site. The Statue of Liberty was there, standing tall and proud, showing the freedom still reigned. Lady Liberty the symbol of what America stands for was a shining beacon in the face of disaster and destruction. We will survive and prevail.
Looking up into the sky further intensified the gravity of the situation seeing and hearing military fighter aircraft running combat air patrol in our skies. Who ever thought we would see they day when we needed the military flying fighter jets to protect us. This also was unsettling as this just did not and could not ever happen here.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/9701We reached Canal St, and found a huge sea of people migrating from uptown and downtown, merging to cross the Manhattan Bridge, or find a different path home. We crossed the Manhattan Bridge, and could see downtown Manhattan enveloped in smoke, with absolutely no traffic or people visible on the streets, and all buildings dark from the power being cut. The column of black smoke from the WTC site was stretching an incredible distance out over the water, with the acrid smell just getting stronger. Most of those crossing the bridge did so silently. At this point, military aircraft were starting to patrol the skies, which I found reassuring.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/9696I watched with horror at the World Trade Center burning, the Pentegon crumbling in on itself, and the smoke rising from a field.
I didn't see the Towers fall. But I saw the aftermath in the firefighters' faces as they went back in to rescue those they had lost.
I didn't think I had a right to grieve. To be angry, and upset and vengeful, yes, but not to grieve. Then I saw two fighter jets patroling the skys over NY and Washington, DC. And a carrier ship was making its way up from Virginia to NY. And it struck me that in an instant, when the first plane was hi-jacked at 8:46 AM that morning, MY world had changed. Our airspace would forever be patroled.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/5082The "orderly evacuation" of our building turned into everyone leaving, all at once, from the underground parking garage. As I inched my car forward, wanting to get out of there into open air and trying to hear the AM radio reports, I couldn't think of anything but calling my parents and relatives and letting them know that I was OK.
I got out onto Washington Blvd in Arlington and headed home. OK...inched my way home. There was a lot of traffic. People nervously scanning the air from their car windows. Other folks ALREADY flying U.S. flags from their vehicles (amazing).
I tried to call my Mom from my cell, but all lines were jammed. I tried to call my wife...same deal.
I finally arrived home about 45 minutes later (normally a 10-minute commute). Several of my neighbors were standing outside, looking up. By this time, Air Force fighters were screaming overhead and setting up defensive air patrols over the capital.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/1955It was just after 10 o’clock, and we had just witnessed the collapse of the South Tower.
All the way, I was trying to get through to Carolyn on my cellphone, but connections seemed impossible. On a hunch, I dialed the home number of our company president, who was out of town on business. Surprisingly, I got through to his wife. After telling her that everyone was safely out of the office, she told me, “The Tower is down, and they’ve hit the Pentagon.” I heard it, but I didn’t comprehend it.
Four of us convinced a limousine driver to bring us up West Street to the midtown area where two of us would try to get a ferry to New Jersey, and two others would head for Penn Station for their homeward-bound Long Island trains. On the way, we chattered about our plans, but nobody said a word about what we had seen.
As my colleague and I waited in the crowd for the ferry, we heard aircraft noise. The entire crowd cringed, very visibly. Then someone said, “Relax. It’s an F-14 rolling around up there.” I looked, and he was right. The U.S. Navy was on patrol.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/1859The one sight that I will never forget was not the buildings crashing to the ground, it was the sight of the Combat Air Patrol that was circling over my home.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/1665I saw what probably gave me the most feeling of security ? the afterburners of jet fighters as they flew on patrol. One moment the strange light from the afterburner caught my eye, and as I watched, the next moment it winked out.
http://www.911digitalarchive.org/stories/details/1489What's clear from all of these accounts is the feeling of security seeing those planes brought to everyone. Thier arrival was defintely a noteworthy event. I remember seeing them arrive while I watched CNN and was actually elated. I remember thinking, "It's about time." It never dawned on me that they should have been there a lot earlier. When I put forth this theory of 93's target as WTC7, the objection was that the Otis Patrol would have intercepted the flight before it reached New York. If these accounts are true, the plane could have entered New York air space shortly after the Two Towers collapsed. This is important, if the towers were still standing when 93 approached, it would never have been able to hit WTC7 with any reliabilty. It is only when the towers were down that the plane would have had a clear shot.
Also, the story could have been that 93 was intended to crash into the World Trade center towers but upon seeing the towers had collapsed, the pilot crashed into WTC7 which was the tallest building in the path of the destroyed towers. If this had happened, how many questions would we have about how WTC7 fell? I probably wouldn't have any. How the hell do I know if you can or cannot bring down a building with an airplane. I do know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense without one.
I also believe Larry Silverstiens comment "pull it" explains the conspriators state of mind after 93 stopped flying. See, I don't believe he was necessarily making this statement to the Fire Chief. I think this was an actual conversation they had concerning the fate of WTC7 after they knew they had a serious problem. See, if WTC7 was rigged for demolition and if it was the command center of the attack, that is an aweful lot of evidence that needs to go away, real fast.
Larry Silvertien:"I remember getting a call from the, er, fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse."
What if the real conversation went more like: "I remember getting a call from the Prseident aboard Air Force One, tellimg me that Flight 93 had been shot down and was not going to be able to strike WTC7, and I said, 'We've already come this far, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made the decision to pull and we watched the building collapse."
This post is just blatant conjecture but it fits a damn site better than some explanations. It's been implied that they made the decision to pull the building and coincidentally the building collapsed. This is utter nonsense and just as plausible as my scenario. 4 planes hijacked = 4 collapsed buildings. How much would you bet that 93 was headed for the building that collapsed but wasn't hit by a plane? I'd wager a bundle on that one, any day.
