4. Thanks for the post...
I have wanted to see that.

I know a lot of people involved in major demolition projects (stadiums, bridges, tall buildings) and not a single one believes those weren't controlled demos.

But I have also seen posts here on DU explaining how, theoretically, the official version could be legitimate. I also know how misleading a person armed with a degree in engineering versus real life experience can be.

5. I'm curious.
It sounds as if you're talking to people who actually do demolition. Preparation for controlled demolition is a horribly invasive thing to do to a building. How did they suggest that this was done while the buildings were occupied, without anybody noticing?

8. It would have to be prepared over a period of time, i suppose..
but that isn't exactly impossible...

10. Legit demolition firms in the real world bear responsibility
"Preparation for controlled demolition is a horribly invasive thing to do to a building."

Only when you are taking legal responsibilities for the consequences of anything going wrong and possible injuries to person or property. Let alone having financial needs dictate that as little rubble should need to be moved afterward as possible.

If you are not accountable for the consequences, you can do it fast and dirty. "What can we do to minimise dust and debris contamination of lower Manhattan, and make sure nobody gets hurt?" would not have been the thoughts guiding a placement of charges during the "power down" that the buildings experienced just before 9/11.

11. No. It doesn't work that way.
You have to strip the interior down to the steel and concrete to position the charges, run the cord, etc. You can't just throw a bunch of explosives around the interior and expect it to fall down. If you'll remember, that was tried in 1993.

13. But...
you CAN slam a 737 into the upper floors and they will fall down?

16. How are these things even remotely related?
And they weren't 737s.

17. My bad. 767-200s.
I took your point to be that it is not easy to bring down buildings like the twin towers. My point is that you are quite right. They were designed to survive an impact and resulting fires from a collision by the largest commercial aircraft at the time, a Boeing 707-340, which was only slightly smaller than the planes that hit them on 9/11.

15. The buildings were being re-wired for a new Fire Alarm system...
it was being installed by a company named Securacom. During that time, the building's security and surveillance had been shut down on several occasions. It is possible that this was the time when the explosives were planted.

14. Just saw the video on CNN.com and came looking for a thread.
This is good. I tend to agree with Sheen, but either way it is always good to get these things into the open. It often helps to have a celebrity talk about a subject that has been sort of taboo in the past.

Good for Sheen!
