Why didn't the Oklahoma Murrah building collapse?
It was damaged much worse than WTC-7, and yet it didn't pancake down all at once.

Was it not tall enough? Or? Really just curious

1. Because the Murrah building
didn't have explosives inside the building. The explosion came from a Ryder truck outside the building.

3. Well I think its because
physics just "worked differently" on 9/11 for some mysterious reason. Any building damaged on 9/11 probably would have fallen.

4. Actually, have you seen the news reports from THAT day stating
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 04:15 PM by file83
that authorities had found 2 (or was it 3?) ADDITIONAL bombs INSIDE the building? Sounds to me like the Oklahoma Fed building didn't blow up as planned. The reports of the bombs were retracted the next day. (Cover-up, anyone?)

Anyway, it seems that with WTC 1,2 & 7 they finally "got it right".

5. One thing, though
The Murrah Building was bombed in April 1995. I don't think the BFEE was using it as practice for the WTC.

Just saying.

6. With or without internal bombs, my point remains the same
Which is, that buildings aren't so delicate that you could just push them over (or pancake as the case may be).

Murrah had admitted bombs, whatever the location, and clearly had substantial damage, and yet... didn't collapse. How odd.

Must just be another indication of the difference between the "pre-9/11" and "post-9/11" realities

8. your point is well taken
dotcosm, and I've also thought often about the Murrah building when trying to imagine what happened to WTC 7. Our every day experiences don't equip us with much point of reference where massive scale structural behaviors are concerned, so theory and precedence is all we really have to go on. From all the examples of building collapse I've been able to examine, it's totally out of character for all vertical support columns to simply "give up" when some of their members are compromised. It's much more typical for part of a building to collapse, or for the building to topple over.
