Does yesterday's Plamegate revelation discount 9/11 govt complicity?
As most of you are aware, yesterday the media broke the story that President Bush authorized the leak of classified information by Scooter Libby to Judith Miller of the New York Times. This suggests that Prosecutor Fitzgerald has been relentlessly following his investigation up the chain of command, and as all prosecutors have a tendency to do, expanding the scope of his investigation.

Is it possible that Fitzgerald, having access for far more information than we could dream of possessing, including hours of sworn testimony of the highest officials in the White House, would not have come across evidence of LIHOP/MIHOP if that evidence existed? And if he did, wouldn't he have expanded the investigation?

This suggests one of several possibilities:

1. There is no evidence of LIHOP/MIHOP to be had from the White House senior staff.

2. Senior white house staff have been able to maintain their silence about 9/11 even as their resistance to talking on the record about Plamegate has crumbled.

3. Fitzgerald has uncovered 9/11 evidence but he is strictly and rigidly staying within his original mandate to investigate the leak of classified information and nothing else.

4. Fitzgerald has uncovered 9/11 evidence, but he is part of the Washington consensus that even if one knows that 9/11 was an inside job, it is just too destabilizing to bring it into the open.

Just wondering what your views are.

1. not sure i buy your premise.
he's investigating lies and coverups relating to an incident in the lead-up to the iraq war.

i don't see how it's even all that likely that he could have come across any lihop/mihop information. seems off topic for him.

2. Moussoui trial is exploiting 911 footage now...
This might end up backfiring in some way. It really is quite a web of deception this
administration has weaved.

3. Sometimes memos are about more than one thing.
Meeting minutes, for instance, might report both discussions about the WH investigation into the
identity of the Plame leaker, and complaints of coverups at the FBI.

4. the only possible relation I see is that...
this whole episode could provide Bush and Cheney with an opportunity to fall on their sword and avert the increasing heat about the much more severe charges surrounding 9/11. Given that very few people in the 9/11 truth movement take a view beyond the Bush administration, it's likely that if Bush and Cheney go, most of the 9/11 truth movement would end.

Bush and Cheney could easily be pardoned for this Plame-gate, while, of course, they would be looking at either life in the Hague or the death penalty here at home if the truth about 9/11 ever came out. Their silence in countering these new charges seems to me it's possible they are considering the former, in hopes of averting the latter.

7. Yes, that's what I'm afraid of ... convict Al Capone on tax evasion
I'm afraid it will be like Watergate. Nixon was guilty of a wide variety of abuses, including complicity in murder of foreign leaders, use of the CIA in domestic spying, breakins, abuse of the IRS and on and on and on. But he was removed for obstruction of justice, namely hindering the investigation into Watergate breakin. It was as though the establishment believed that the full disclosure and airing of what went on would be too destablizing. I hope that doesn't happen with 9/11 -- namely they are removed for plamegate or NSA spying and we never get a real investigation of the real crime.

8. anything less than full exposure of 9/11 truth will doom us to
repeat the same mistakes and suffer the same consequences again. We have to know the depravity of the Bush administration in totality and realize the entire bi-partisan complicity, in at least the cover-up and whitewash of the attacks, on both the federal level (Congress) and the state/local level (Spitzer/Guiliani).

This has to be exposed in order to save, or restore, our democracy. This has to be a resounding wake-up call to re-examine and remake our democratic processes and institutions. If you only pull out the weeds at the surface, they will grow back. We need to address the root causes that have enabled our leaders to behave in such a way as to bring our country to this terrible state.
