Whatever happened with the Anthrax letters?
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 03:35 PM by Rich Hunt
Whatever happened with this story? Wikipedia says that as of last fall, the FBI was working on a report regarding "persons of interest".

This ought to be of interest because 1) it was very clearly domestic, and 2) the letters were postmarked a week after 9/11.

What if these are a clue about 9/11 somehow?

Here is a scan of the envelopes:

Two of them have a return address of "Greendale School". Of course this is probably a "joke". Personally, the anthrax letters appear to me to be a sick joke. The lettering reminds me of the Zodiac killer. But could it be that someone is mocking the government and the American people for their ignorance about 9/11?

I don't think the anthrax story should have died the way it did. Why those particular people, and why those addresses?

1. I think you're right about there being a clue to 9/11...
Awfully strange that nobody ever brings it up anymore, isn't it?

2. yes, it's very strange

Although, on further digging, I found that there are some books about it. I didn't realize there was text inside the 'letters'. Looks like I've got a whole new angle to look at. One of the books was written by Robert Graysmith, author of the "Zodiac" book. Honestly, it's hard to look at the lettering and NOT think of the Zodiac. Plus it's possible that the addresses and references in the letters are clues of some kind? The whole thing has a mocking air about it.

3. Thanks for the info on that book...

I can give you my tinfoil theory on it:

It was a blatant attack on Congress and the media to shut down any attempt to undo the 9/11 cover-up, as well as to insure that the Patriot Act was passed quickly and without any opposition.

edited for spelling

We were certainly bombarded with info and incidents in the weeks following 9/11. I used to keep an archive of news stories and at some point, I just gave up. The American people were overwhelmed.

I don't think this Hatfill guy is the one (he appears to be an expert, and tests done show that you don't have to have a high tech facility to replicate that sort of anthrax), but I still found this page interesting:

http://jdo.org/hatfill.htm

I just found the stuff about the making of anthrax interesting. In my mind, this has far right and domestic terror all over it....but did the perpetrator or perpetrators know something about the attacks? There is just such a mocking tone to the whole thing.

6. Do you recall?
I believe I read something that said the DNA tests from the anthrax attacks matched those at the U.S. bio weapons lab. There has to be a very finite number of people who have access to that. I agree, I think they tried to railroad the Hatfill guy and he was having none of it.

This stuff scares me far more than the 9/11 attacks.

5. Maybe it was a message.
Ask the wrong questions about 9/11 and you'll be dealt with???

7. Indira Singh said there were a number of post 911 anthrax
incidents in New York that went unreported in the main stream. This points to the letters being "messages", as you say, rather than terrorism or fake terrorism. If they were real terrorism or "someone" making it look like terrorism those would have been publicized all over the place.
