New Navy ship being built with WTC steel

NEW YORK - With a year to go before it even touches the water, the Navy’s amphibious assault ship USS New York has already made history — twice. It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center, and it survived Hurricane Katrina.

USS New York is the fifth in a new class of warship — designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.

I don't know what those special operations might be! I hope they don't include Iran.
And they speculate it may even catch Bin Laden! Don't worry other ships are planned to honor the other tragedies of 9/11-USS Somerset-for flight 93-but they won't use crime scene evidence (I would guess) for their creation.

21. Yep... I remember thinking that it was past odd for them to

do that. I have to admit that I felt from the minute I began to watch what was happening on 911, I felt the at at the very least, bush and his bunch allowed it happen. I lost 4 friends that day and for a little bit, thought I'd lost my cousin and uncle,( they both worked for Port Authority). We feared the worst had happened for the better part of 16 hours.
I have always believed that they didn't give over the care to this crime scene, ( and that's what it was) that the police would have given to a candy store robbery by a bunch of arthritic babushkas. I really have always believed that they were hiding something from the beginning.

7. We sold scrap iron and steel to Japan just before WWII...

some it was used in their bombs and torpedoes that fell on our soldiers, sailors an Marines during that conflict. To be honest, I'd rather see this steel used at home as opposed to being sold to another country.

I am not advocating the use of munitions, but I can see the point of using some of that steel for this. Here in Nebraska, Columbus to be precise, (about 35 miles South of where I am located), some of the WTC steel has been erected, tastefully I might add, to a small "sculpture" in a small military park that has the names of WWII, Korean and VN vets engraved in bricks. I added my father's, stepfather's and my son added my name to the wall.

While I do not agree w/this war, and am adamantly opposed to it; I have to admit that I tear up when I think of what those at the WTC went through, and would like to see bin-Laden brought to justice and condemned throughout the world.

For more than three months, structural steel from the World Trade Center has been and continues to be cut up and sold for scrap. Crucial evidence that could answer many questions about high-rise building design practices and performance under fire conditions is on the slow boat to China, perhaps never to be seen again in America until you buy your next car.

Such destruction of evidence shows the astounding ignorance of government officials to the value of a thorough, scientific investigation of the largest fire-induced collapse in world history. I have combed through our national standard for fire investigation, NFPA 921, but nowhere in it does one find an exemption allowing the destruction of evidence for buildings over 10 stories tall.

Of course,their hasty destruction of crime scene evidence doesn't prove anything. Bombs? I've never really thought so. But if there was nothing to hide, why oh why did the evidence get removed so quickly? Oh yes, I know it wasn't that important to history. Well, it's gone forever now. It raises doubt. But to have doubt is to be mocked-to not trust implicitly and completely whatever story your government tells you means that you believe in conspiracy theories. No, it means that getting rid of crime scene evidence EVEN when (if you read the article) victims relatives and firemen were begging them not seems er yeah, suspicious. Of what? We'll never know.
