What is the GOP defense of the 2000 Florida heavily black voter purge?

There is not a blessed thing on the face of this earth we can do about the purged lists now and that is not what is important.

What is important is this. Have those people who were purged since reregistered or found their names back on the roles by some other means?

That is what counts, because you may rest assured that those who have been denied the vote will be at the polls next time, its just a question if they will be denied again.

... has been HEAVILY involved in registering and RE-registering in Florida (and elsewhere), and that they use the 'purged list' as one reference tool. We all owe Al for that, if nothing else.

before the next elections after 2002 (eg 2004). Since I believe that was part of the court order. If you have read that they are stalling - can you remember where you saw this - it should be pushed. Start framing it as a Civil Rights Act violation.

I would have black voters at the polls accompanied by ARMED escorts provided by civil rights organizations on election day 2004. These conservatives need to be shown that liberals are not afraid of using force if necesssary to defend their freedoms.

15. What actually happened

Florida passed a law saying that the voter registration list should be purged of those who did not have a right to vote.

They hired a company (with connections to Jeb) who agreed to get them a list of felons to remove.

Among other things, this company sent them a list of 10,000 people who were arrested for misdemeaners in Texas. THey removed anyone who had the same name and birthdate as anyone on this list.

They received a list of released felons from several other states who had the right to vote in those states. THey removed anyone who had the same name and birthdate as anyone on this list.

Thus they illegally revoked the right to vote of these people.

There is more, but this indicates enough.

Black people are overly represented as felons, and as misdemeaner committers in Texas. THus Florida was able to remove a large number of people who would vote against Dubya from the voting roles.
