No Republican Debate, Are They Blowing It Here ???

When there is an open congresssional seat, or open presidential election, you get all sorts of points of view. One might watch a Democratic candidate and think, "Wow, great point, never thought of that."

Later, they might watch a Republican candidate and say, "Wow, he\she's got a good point too." (Although I doubt it, LOL!!!)

My question is, would it have been 'smarter' for the rePubs to encourage some candidate from their side to challenge Chimpy, for the sole purpose of not letting the opposing view (DEM) be the ONLY view being discussed for so long???

Just a thought.

Bush is an injuried boar in a field of hyenas. If the republicons tried to debate the chimp he would further be crippled and lose money he is going to desperatly need this election cycle.

The republicans are smart in this area that Bush is their only horse and just stand behind him (no matter how idiotic). Sad but smart.

(on the Presidential level anyway), but I still think it is quite possible that another Repub Prez candidate will step to the plate. If Shrub is looking like a loser come about May, the true conservatives of the party might try to throw somebody out there.

Not that our 'extinguished forth estate' ain't gonna bailout the boychimp, they are, but it's still pretty much risky to leave a charge unanswered.

And the Dems tonight, while tussling with on another, were leaving an impression of 'Bongo Goes To Washington' as an idiot\liar. And while WE all knowthat's the case, the right must truly have the press in there pockets if they are gonna let that hang out therer unrefuted.

12. Bush gets free ride- we should run SOMEONE against him...

...in the primary. We don't even need to fund that person and drain dollars from primary candidates. Take someone like Sam Nunn who appeals to conservatives and have Nunn attack Bush from the Right, saying there aren't enough troops in Iraq, that we need to balance budgets (some Republicans should support that). Or maybe get a stalking horse- some far-right nutball who rails against the immigration plan, medicare bill and other areas where the Right feels Bush betrayed them. At least, he'll get some press and raise some doubts amongst Bush's base. Bush's ability to solidify his base is what will allow him the upper hand in the general. We can shake that.
