Tracking Polls Stay Constant, Rasmussen and Zogby
Edited on Sun Oct-10-04 11:15 AM by louis c
Rasmussen 3 day tracking for October 6-9 has a Bush lead of 4 points, 50%-46%. This represents no change from yesterday.

Scott Rasmussen's weekly update for the Electoral College has 240 votes for Bush, 160 votes for Kerry, and 129 votes too close to call.

Zogby's 3 day tracking poll for the exact same period has a Kerry lead at 46%-45%. He also has Nader at 1%, others at 1%, and 7% undecided. This is also unchanged from yesterday (other than a 0.5% drop for Nader)

John Zogby's weekly Electoral college projection has 278 votes for Kerry, 207 votes for Bush, and 53 votes too close to call.

It should be noted that Scott Rasmussen is a Republican, and John Zogby is a Democrat. Also, that John Zogby was the only major polling that got the 2000 election correct on his final poll (Gore by less than 1%) and that Scott Rasmussen missed that same election by the widest margin (Bush by 8%).

God Bless John Kerry and the Boston Red Sox.

1. Zogby a democrat? Says who?
Zogby is the only pollster I have heard Rush Limbaugh endorse.

2. Says John Zogby

I've read it on his site before, and many here can provide the proof.

He has shown some independence in the past by doing paid work for Al D'Amato. Zogby is a Democrat, that's for sure.

Rasmussen is a Republican. None of that matters, as long as they disclose it. After all, everyone has to be something. As pollsters the most important thing is to be correct, or you'll be looking for other work.

3. Of course it matters, since you note the difference between
Zogby and Rasmussen tracking along with their supposed party affiliations--as if the difference is explained by supposed party affiliation.

I don't know about Rasmussen, but I am pretty sure Rush wouldn't cite to Zogby if he were a "democratic" pollster.

As for the differences in the tracking polls, you can look at Zogby's record from 2000 for a true explanation--one of them is wrong, and probably not Zogby.

5. I note the difference

because people should know. The fact that Zogby is a democrat doesn't matter as much as the fact that his track record is very good. The fact that Rasmussen is a Republican doesn't matter as much as the fact that in 2000, his numbers sucked.

I believe in full disclosure, and let the individual decide on the accuracy or validity of polls and news stories.

I firmly believe everyone, including me and you, have a bias. It's reorganizing that bias, disclosing it, and then attempting to deal with whatever situation confronts us in a fair manner.

I'm a Union Business Manager, and I have to defend my members. There are situations that I have to go to bat for an individual that thinks Unions are a waste of money, that I personally suck and who has a Bush sticker on his car. I tell him I don't like him, that he is a parasite to the Union, and then go out and represent him like he is my own flesh and blood.

The worst hypocrites hide their bias, make believe they have none, and then f**k us in the end.

4. Rasmussen has a definite * agenda going
When it looks like * is losing serious ground, poof...he suddenly gains a ton of support the next day. Same deal with *'s approval ratings on his site. JK wins the debates yet *'s approval ratings are shooting up.
