5. Sharpton is uncomfortable but necessary

...in reminding the Democratic party not to turn its back on the black community. How many times have we been told that we ignore the agenda of the black community only to drum up their votes before election day. In many ways, we do take them for granted. Sharpton may be unpleasant, but he's trying to remind us that our actions towards minorities as a party must match our words- and right now they're not. Some Democrat recently called a candidate in California a "house Mexican". We cannot do this and expect the votes of minorities.
