From CA: Non-Edwards supporter giving Edwards a second thought
Please mention the state where you vote in your reply...

I am interested in whether Edwards' supposed momentum increase is a national phenomenon (at least through the DU prism) as the Rasmussen report would show.

I have always been a Kerry supporter. Actually, I have not wavered very much in considering him my first choice.

As further background, my wife and I have always been impressed with John Edwards, but we always thought of him in the theoretical rather than the concrete. That is, there wasn't a "gravitas" about his chances.

Something over the past week or two has changed that. His campaign seems to have generated some sort of critical mass, and both the media and apparently Iowans are giving him a serious look. (Who ever thought the Des Moines Register could be so influenetial).

Anyone else sensing this?

SOME PRESIDENTIAL candidates seem to grow shriller or more haggard as the grueling campaign grinds on. North Carolina Sen. John Edwards is the opposite -- a candidate who remains as appealing as ever and who seems to have grown more thoughtful and confident. That apparent deepening helps but does not entirely allay concerns about his inexperience.

Nonetheless, Mr. Edwards has made reasonable use of his short time in government. He took a lead role in crafting patients' rights legislation, though he wasn't able to win final passage of protections against abusive HMOs. He focused on terrorism before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, saying months earlier that "the most serious national security risk that we face over the course of the next decade is terrorism" and warning about the threats posed by chemical and biological weapons.

etc.

4. I'm not an Edwards supporter
...but you can't NOT like the guy. He's a good Democrat, and if we lose this time around expect to see much more of him in 2008.
