1. It's very important
for us to focus more attention on the president's huge error. Let's drop the talk about Cheney's daughter. If the public sees the president making a total ass of himself, the election contest is over. The republicans know that, too, and that's why they are so desperate to distract attention from this.

2. WTH is wrong with Dick n bush?
Dick said he never met Edwards before the night of the debate and bush* claims he never said he wasn't concerned about Osama when clearly he said just that? They both lie even when the truth is out there for all to hear!

4. This is PURE GOLD

It was a gift to us last night and we need to do everything possible to get this EVERYWHERE. The DNC should be sure to spend more money on this ad in more places than just about every other one combined.

In the end, I really believe that this will be the gaffe that people remember about this election many years down the road. We need to move beyond Mary Cheney and all of the other distractions and focus on THIS.

On Edit: As Josh Marshall said on his blog, this is bigger than the Dick Cheney "I never met you before tonight lie." This is about a fundamental issue in this election. That was just a stupid trick that backfired.

7. Weren't they bound by the debate rules

not to use any footage from the debates in advertisements?

Not that I have anything against Kerry breaking the rules, since the right does it all the time (can anyone say "Sinclair?"). But I do worry this could backfire -- it opens the door for the rethugs to use Kerry's Mary Cheney remark, for example, in a nasty way. It also opens us to the charge of not playing by the rules.

Hope they thought this one through. It's a great ad.

9. I thought so as well . . .
In fact, I posted the link to the rules last night.

See page 5

Maybe it's just the candidates that are limited to the restriction. In any event, the Bush team has nothing on Kerry if he wants to break a few rules. In my book, he's due a few freebies.

11. I seriously doubt the B/C campaign would create an ad
that would hammer home the message, again and again, that Dick has a gay daughter. Their target audience would focus on the gay daughter and ignore the rest. Too risky, even for them.

8. This one is a home run.
Simple, direct, and absolutely uncontrovertible. It needs to run far and wide in every state for the next 19 days.

12. it appears to be a web only thing
I was thinking we'd see a new ad today, but the media seems to be covering it sufficiently.
