A mormon from Utah who goes to a conservative college told me
he is voting for Kerry. Not just that...so is his wife.

He said that he thinks the Republicans would like America to think that they have the market cornered on morality, then he ticked off the list of things they have been immoral about.

It made my day to hear this...I was pleasantly surprised.

1. I would say that is good news.
Being a Jack mormon I have quite a few mormon friends and I think several families I know are going to vote for Kerry as well. Rogue mormons (thanks matcom, I'll never forget that). :hi: NSMA!

3. I'm glad to hear that some Americans
do not think it's moral to rape and torture children in the name of "freedom."

I'm glad to hear that some Americans do not think it's moral to launch a "crusade" against middle eastern nations as a response to religious fundamentalism/terrorism.

I'm glad to hear that some Americans do not think it's moral for, as a recent case recounted, "faith-based" drug rehab to include no rehab at all, but instead forced an American to listen to Pentacostal proselytizing, to define his "cure" as a conversion to their form of Christianity, to tell him his Catholicism was witchcraft, to tell him he'd given up his right to freedom of religion when he entered their rehab program...

this is a concrete example of Bush's "faith-based" programs that he is forcing down the throats of Americans, in violation of our bill of rights.

I'm glad that some Americans do not think it's moral to have a president who cannot and will not listen to reason, but instead makes decisions about the fate of the world based upon his "gut." --the same guy who could not run a successful company, but who, instead, was used by his daddy's buddies for their tax shelters.

I'm glad to know that some Americans do not think that it's okay for us to launch a war based upon lies, to invade a non-threatening nation, in violation of the Nuremberg Principles, and to then claim that it doesn't matter.

I hope that moral Americans will demand that the current administration face charges for crimes against humanity.

4. You basically recounted his entire speech to me
He is very adamant that faith based services HARM the poor more than they help.
