2. Why do these African Americans keep endorsing Dean?
Didn't they hear about his awful record from Al Sharpton?

3. It's hard to hear Sharpton...
His mouth is too busy working on Republican governor George Pataki...

6. Funny that he endorses Dean but he did NADA for Dem. Gov. Musgrove
Republican Haley Barbour is being inaugurated today as the new governor of Mississippi.

Our Democratic governor Ronnie Musgrove was beaten by him by a small margin in November.

Bennie Thompson was conspicuously absent on the campaign trail for Musgrove, even through Barbour was flying in high-powered Washington politicians to campaign for him.

If Bennie would have done for Ronnie what he is now doing for Dean, we might have kept our Democratic governor. Bennie didn't motivate his constituents to get out and vote for Musgrove.

Today at 12:01, the consequences of that will begin.

Look, there are lots of good things about Bennie, but he dropped the ball in Mississippi when he could have helped immensely. He is more interested in national efforts than ones in his own state.

11. You know nothing about Bennie Thompson except that he's black and he
endorsed Dean. I happen to live in the state in which he is a congressman.

His lack of support for a MISSISSIPPI DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR is indefensible.

12. Dean's staff is in damage control mode and have the resources to court
certain legislators. Apparently Musgrove's people didn't provide sufficient motivation for the congressman's support.

13. From the Roll Call story:
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean’s campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination received the endorsement of Rep. Bennie Thompson (Miss.) Tuesday, giving the one-time outsider candidate a one-person lead over former House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt (Mo.) in the competition for Capitol Hill backers.

Dean now has 35 Congressional supporters, — one more than Gephardt, 12 more than Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) and 18 more than retired Gen. Wesley Clark. Even Gephardt aides admit Dean has momentum heading toward next week’s Iowa caucuses. The former governor picked up Rep. Corrine Brown’s (Fla.) endorsement Monday.

<snip>

Despite taking some hits on racial issues, Dean continues to pull in minority endorsements. Thompson is the eighth member of the Congressional Black Caucus to endorse Dean including the organization’s chairman, Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), and vice chairwoman, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas).
