I'm a Kerry supporter but I am totally impressed with Howard Dean...

and his willingness to stand up and fight George W Bush and anyone else that wishes to tangle with him. And the Democrats need a fighter, there's no doubt. I will not be disappointed at all if Howard is our nominee. He's a straight shooter - like Truman - and he scares the crap out of the Repubs, in my opinion. Because they think he will actually get national health coverage passed. His medical credentials help him a lot on that issue.

I guess Kerry is my #2 choice. I think he's a solid liberal, always has been. I didn't like his IWR vote--I think he had his finger in the wind and made the wrong judgement, based on politics, not on what was right. That said, I could easily vote for him. But I'm still hoping for Dean.

It looks like Iowa is going to be tighter than a (insert homespun phrase here).

3. I heard a Kerry stump speech yesterday

and, frankly, I'm siding with those talking another look at him.

I like Dean and would support him, but I still haven't shaken the belief he'll get mauled by Rove's machine. I must disagree, I think they are DYING to run against Dean...and afraid of Clark, and maybe Kerry too.

Clark's recent remark about Bush "prancing around in a flight suit" was too good.

But y'know, Clark (and Kerry to some extent) can say that. It wouldn't carry the same weight as if Clark or Kerry said it.

7. Dean is a street fighter! That is one of my main reasons for supporting

him. He scares the shit out of the freepers. Go check, they have been posting stuff like "if Bush doesn't clean up his act, we will be inaguating President Dean in Jan." It is so great! I have really started liking Kerry over the last few days. For a long time Clark has been my second choice, but even though I think he is a great man, the matching funds will kill him in the GE. Sad, but true. Kerry and Dean are our only viable options. This doesn't bother me at all either, Kerry has a great record on the environment and his work with Iran Contra and getting us out of Vietnam is a wonder.

Dean and Kerry will be the final two.

5. Dean, Kerry, Kucinich and Edwards

are my favorite candidates, though Dean is still my #1. I think any of them would be great presidents. I do agree, though, that Dean is a scrapper, a la Harry S, and that's why he's my candidate. But I'd be tickled pink if the field narrowed down to those 4*! We really do have some great people running.

I appreciate his record. I am glad Kerry sees things the way he does. I would be disappointed if Howard Dean doesn't get the nom, but I would work like hell for Kerry if he gets it.

9. Dean's done an admirable job

It is impossible to run a perfect campaign, but Dean did pretty much that for nearly a year. It's bad luck that his only missteps have come bunched together just before the start of the voting.

I have no problem at all with him if he's the nominee.

I'm a little older than most here, and have been involved in presidential campaigns since 1968. My tendency is to lean towards those whose records I know well: Gephardt or Kerry. But there is much to be said for Dean, Clark, and Edwards, too.

It's a great field, which is why I still haven't made up my mind. It's like being in a candy store as a kid (now you have an idea of my age!) with a quarter in my pocket and $10 worth of hunger for what is in the display cases. What I want to avoid is the feeling I sometimes had back then: "This is sweet - but would another choice have been even better?"

Just because someone posts something nice about a candidate you obviously don't like, you think that you should imply that person isn't thinking? Not very nice in what was otherwise a pretty good unity thread for Kerry and Dean supporters.

Attack Dean all you want, but why make a snippy comment about kentuck?
