Why did Cheney predict 52-47 for Bush?
What if that is the amount the plan to fake the results by? What if, for some bizarre reason, it actually comes out like that. Aren't they opening up themselves up for...

oh, Christ, what am I thinking. I keep forgetting, these guys have no conscience, nor any care whatsoever what anyone thinks of them. Just so they get what they want.

"Fuck off!"

1. I think it was purely for spin
It's a Rovian tactic - project confidence even when the trends ultimately aren't in your favor.

3. Ass smoke
nothing more.

Here, I predict Kerry 51.5% and Bush 46.7%. I'm just as informed as Dick, actually more so since I read DU.

4. Because their internal polls are showing 52 - 47 for Kerry
and when asked, Cheney picked the numbers that were in his mind (and flipped them).

5. I think he pushed the limits of reason
Of course he's expected to predict a Bush victory. But even partisans don't think Bush is going to win in a landslide. 52-47 was probably the best numbers he could come up with that still sounded plausible.

7. Because he knows the results will be 53-46 and he doesn't want
to give it away that it's all been taken care. :tinfoilhat:

11. LOL!
I guess the missing 1% in Dick's calculation represents Mary's vote for Nader.

14. Cheney likes to work in groups of 5's (draft deferments, etc.)
But this time around, rather than being on the correct side of 5, he's on the WRONG side of 5. More correctly his prediction should have been K/E 52% ; B/C 47%.

15. Why not?
Who cares what that mean old man says? If he were living in your neighborhood, you'd be warning the kids never to walk on the side of the street next to his property.
