WOuld Clark take the sidecar if Kerry is the nominee?

I don't think Wes wants to be Dean's running mate. However, should JFK pull out the nomination, you think Clark would take VP?

*defense industry lobbying
*relentless screw ups un Kosovo
*and lack of electability

By the time the convention rolls around Clarks infamous ego would be bruised beyond repair, he will have taken his toys and gone home.

But Sen. Kerry's pretty astute. He can frame the differences with Gen. Clark in terms of experience and commitment to the democratic party. Gen. Clark will need a true Democrat beside him to win the Democratic nomination.

Maybe the defense industry lobbying. But I don't think Clark's skin is that thin. Kerry supported Kosovo so it would be kind of stupid for him to hammer Clark on it. The two of them would run a very tough campaign against each other and any and all defense weaknesses would definitely come out. In the end, they'd make a dynamite duo, as long as Clark can answer the Reagan years questions adequately to convince skeptical Dems like me.

His rationale was that to win, Democrats need to have strong national security credentials, and that "has to be at the top of the ticket." Kerry would fill that requirement, in spades. So I think Clark would accept the spot as Kerry's VP, and possibly Gephardt's.

I think Clark would have been delighted to be chosen as Kerry's VP. If things played out the way you suggest, I still think he would. This ticket makes sense either way. But a Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean ticket never made a bit of sense.

When Russert asked Clark that question Dean was the frontrunner and Kerry looked like a sure loser.

If Kerry were to get the nomination Clark might have an entirely new perspective based on shared values and enhanced winning prospects.

I hope it's Clark/Kerry. And I hope these two guys don't kill each other off.

20. Absolutely. From what I heard last summer

Clark was being groomed for a VP spot IF Edwards failed to catch on. (Edwards may just pull this out with his very evident strengths building by the week. I think the oNLY thing that hurt Kerry and Edwards was the media failing to cover them fairly.)

And it sounded like Bill Clinton was a factor in that decision to bring it around to those three as the most electable for the Dems.

In either order. Clark has been very careful to not trash any of the other candidates, and I haven't heard any negative comments from Kerry about Clark.

some of the positives,
both have purple hearts, and medels for valor
both have strong foreign policy credentials.
both have excellent military credentials
both despise shrubya
Mass. and Ark. - Northeast and the South
Both have more brains in their little finger than shrub has in his entire head.
both are decent men who have paid their dues.

can't really think of any negatives.
