media review site -
http://campaigndesk.org/

The Columbia Review of Journalism has set up a new website that will focus on media coverage of the 2004 campaign- looks like a good resource....

1. scroll on down
There's an interesting interview re a story by Ken Auletta:

Look Inside the Bush Mindset
By Zachary Roth

In an extraordinary piece in the Jan. 19 New Yorker, Ken Auletta explores the Bush administration's deeply-held conviction that the press is just another special interest group, not a champion of the public interest.

I heard the interview with him on NPR re their mindset on the press. Mindboggling, considering the coddling he's gotten.

Terrific link, mefool; thanks for posting it. This site will be on my list to read on a regular basis.

added to my favorites. :) Did a great piece on Drudge and misrepresenting Clark's testimony.

Distortion
Drudge: The Ellipse as a Tool of Deception
Thursday afternoon, the Drudge Report chimed in with a grossly incorrect headline, "Wes Clark Made Case For Iraq War Before Congress; Transcript Revealed" atop an article designed to distort the General's position.

In excerpting Clark's testimony before the House Armed Services Committee on September 26, 2002, Drudge entirely misrepresents the candidate's remarks.

Drudge quotes Clark's testimony: "'There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat... Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons. He's had those for a long time. But the United States right now is on a very much different defensive posture than we were before September 11th of 2001... He is, as far as we know, actively pursuing nuclear capabilities, though he doesn't have nuclear warheads yet. If he were to acquire nuclear weapons, I think our friends in the region would face greatly increased risks as would we.'"

more at the site :)

3. Thanks - looks promising
They just started but what I've read so far gives hope for developing into a fair and balanced source for people seeking guidance on media distortions.
