Report from the ground in NH

Hi all,
I just got done talking to a friend in NH who is interning for Dean for our Winter Break. She's in Salem, which she says is fairly republican. She said that Dean is fairly popular there, but as she's been canvassing, more and more people have been telling her that they are beginning to like Clark more (for a variety of reasons). One repub she met called her a commie though...I thought that was kind of funny. This shift has occurred in the last 2 weeks or so. She and her friend have also been thinking about voting for Clark, even though they are currently working for Dean. Both like Dean, but Clark is a close second for them and they "wouldn't be upset at all if Clark wins." they said Clark has the momentum going to win NH, but only time and IA will tell...

Just a quick field report.

that says that someone he knows is almost entirely sure that his neighbor was a Dean supporter and is going to vote for Clark.

That's what spending mondo bucks in TV ads will get you, though. A close second.

It's only one person's opinion, but I just thought I'd share it.
I save my subversive activities for Bush and use my energy to convince voters to register, not convince DU'ers to swing one way or the other.

4. Hearing the same

I received an email from a friend volunteering for Kerry in Berlin, NH earlier today. He also reported that Clark is quite popular, especially with people who are angry about the situation in Iraq. There seems to be a trend of considering Clark the anti-war candidate. He said that Kerry is starting to gain momentum because of his stances on job security and health care.

Clearly, this is only one person's opinions, but it's interesting that separate campaigns are seeing the same thing.

6. Yes Clark can be popular since everyone is in Iowa,

just as Dean was said to be way ahead but when the other candidates got there we now see a close race. They will all be arriving in NH after Monday so Clark better enjoy it while he can.

I'm thrilled if some Repubs want to vote for our candidates, any one of them. That is a good sign.

that these were Republicans? Nowhere in the original post, that's for sure. She said the area was republican, not necessarily the people supporting Clark.

And if you think YOUR candidate can win with only the votes of registered democrats, you're mistaken. No candidate can.

as said before the area is republican..I have no idea what people were telling her this, she just said the number has increased. As in let's say 3 people a day said that, now it's 6 (an example, not proof). Maybe shje's just canvassing in a Clark strong area..I have no idea..I'm just repeating what she told me.

Someone (trying to remember where) called me that the other day and I thought, "What year do you think it is?"

I mean, I think that battle is over! I really have to insist that people use CONTEMPORARY slurs when deriding me. That's my limit!
