Proof Positive that the GOP is darn scared of Clark
Read this article and you will see that the GOP
is going on an all out attack on Clark.

Notice how active Frist and Gillespie are to try to thwart
Clark's newfound momentum in New Hampshire. It is insane
when the GOP is saying the exact same thing as Clark's
Democratic rivals. As far as I thought, Bush wasn't in the
Democratic Primary. So why should they care?

Clark finds himself
in the cross hairs

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark is getting flak over a lack of consistency on the Iraq war. (AP)
Rising in a New Hampshire poll to nearly a dead heat with Howard Dean, retired Gen. Wesley Clark yesterday came under fire from a top Republican and from Democratic rivals charging him with a lack of consistency on the Iraq war.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and some of Clark’s primary rivals pointed out that in 2002, Clark appeared to favor invading Iraq and appeared to believe Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat.

Clark has been saying otherwise on the campaign trail and that he has consistently opposed the war. This week, he charged that President George W. Bush and administration officials were more concerned about “political security” than “national security” in their decision to immediately investigate former treasury secretary Paul O’Neill after his charge that the administration plotted to overthrow Saddam long before 9/11.

Clark calls for criminal investigation of Bush
By TOM RAUM, Associated Press
January 16, 2004

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark said Thursday it is up to Congress to determine whether President Bush's march to war in Iraq amounted to a criminal offense.

Asked if it was criminal to mislead the nation in going to war, Clark told reporters, "I think that's a question Congress needs to ask. I think this Congress needs to investigate precisely" how the United States wound up in a war "that wasn't connected to the threat of al-Qaida."

The retired four-star general defended his recent comments against the war after both his Democratic rivals and top Republicans complained

Clark Wants Bush Iraq Action Investigated

Responding to criticism from Gillespie, Clark told reporters that it was a sign that his campaign was succeeding.

"It looks like they've finally figured out that I'm George Bush's greatest threat," he said, blaming it on White House political adviser Karl Rove

2. It sure does seem
like all the wingnut politicos and pundits were speaking from exactly the same script on Clark the past couple of days. I'd agree that they would rather knock him out now. Ain't gonna happen because some of these attacks are simply too weak, coming from either Dems or Repubs, and some of the other lines of attack actually could be attractive to moderates or independents.

But, it will be interesting to watch how Clark and his campaign handle this stuff -- I'm expecting that they'll do quite well.

3. How sweetly ironic...
Frist is pointing out that Clark supported the war he too supported in 2002. LOL!

Ya know why? Because in TN, Clark is trending up so swiftly that he will be leading the polls by the end of the week--he's tied with Dean right now. A Gore-supported Dean campaign doesn't scare Frist, but a Clark campaign fightens the bejeeezus out of him.

This is going to get better and better! :-)

5. What does not destroy him will make him stronger
I'm quoting Neitzsche, not G. Gordon Liddy.

So, bring it on! He needs to undergo a trial by fire like everyone else.
