Bush compares himself to Lincoln and FDR...
MSNBC showed a clip of Bush on the campaign trail this morning. He was referencing two of our greatest presidents in the context of not changing Commanders in the middle of a war. And he implied that he was in a similar situation to those great presidents. As if the preemptive invasion of a country that was not an imminent threat to us was the same as war against Germany and Japan?? Mr Bush, you are no Lincoln or FDR !

1. Well, he said he's not part of the "reality-based community"
Nice to know he wasn't lying at least about that.

That is not a Bush quote. It's from an unnamed aide.

2. Except
that this war is not one of great national importance, it is another Vietnam meant to carry out some kind of personal vendetta and make GOP members' dicks hard.

Then again, Lincoln opposed the social mixing of blacks and whites, so I guess he has something in common with Bush...

10. Glen Beck was claiming that Bush is like Lincoln
He said that when Lincoln was asked about Grants drinking, Abe said to find out what Grant drinks and give some to all the other generals. I remember that that line was from a Bob Newhart comedy album I had a long time ago.

Beck said something like Lincoln did not change his plans when the Civil War was going bad just like Bush and that Lincoln was not popular with a lot of the people like Bush but that people did not realize how good a president Lincoln was until he was dead, like Bush will be I guess. What a load of horse shit that was.

13. I wonder if he thinks it was wrong for the Republicans to run someone
against FDR during the War? He is so full of BS that he doesn't know what the truth is anymore.

14. In a sense.
Lincoln liked to skirt the Constitution at times. Suspended Habeus Corpus during the Civil War. So, in a strictly dictatorial sense, yes, Bush is like Lincoln.

FDR, well, some people believe that FDR let Pearl Harbor happen to facilitate America's entry into WWII. Some people believe that Bush let 911 happen to facilitate the PNAC agenda. So, in a perceived evil sense, yes.

16. Shoot, he's being too humble.
Why not compare himself with George Washington? Go for it, George. After all, you 2 have the same name.

And let's face it, you've done some pretty amazing things. Truly unique as far as governance goes. NO ONE can top you, George.
