My son is in Little Rock and manning the phone lines for the Dems. He and I were having an email discussion re: polls and whether the cell phone only/no land line issue was undercounting young voters/minority/poor. Here's his take:
AR is definitely in play. There have been some 48-48 polls (as opposed to 39-47 earlier), and positive Kerry trends in others. I have pretty much decided most polls are bogus, as are the "predictor" maps with all the kerry/bush likelies and soft kerry/bush in various shades of red and blue. Bill Clinton will be here Sunday, and you better believe that's going to make a difference. His first day back it was huge on the front page of the AR Dem-Gaz (the main state paper). Here's what I have noticed during my calling to get people to vote early. We use voter registration lists that have gender and age included. I have yet to get ahold of but a handful of under 30 people if any at all. The other side of that is that almost every (if not all) disconnected numbers I dial are under 30 people. AR also has a very large black community that should go Kerry.
Hope springs eternal
