14. My new version of Heaven is Wes and Gert Clark occupying our WH!
It will be such a wonderful day when General Clark's inauguration takes place, with Gert, their son, daughter-in-law, and tiny Wes III (?) in attendance. Finally, I will be able to put the trauma of the SCOTUS engineered election theft 2000, and all the horrors that followed it, behind me.

34. In reality
When you first heard of dean's sealed records, did you actually believe they'd ever see the light of day before the 10 year seal?

With one excuse after another for why they shouldn't be opened and now the threat of appeal in order to keep them sealed, it boggles the mind that the same people here on DU were blasting bush and cheney for hiding things are now some of the same people that are making excuses for why dean should keep his records sealed, IMO dean is hiding alot more than names of gay constituents.

Clark has opened all the records that are his to open, ANYONE can read them if so inclined, he's hiding nothing, sealing nothing, documents that the DOD has are sealed for security reasons and beyond Clark's control.

The openness of Clark and his past make him heads and shoulders above dean in this respect.

And then there were none!

Clark Calls For Open Government
Opens His Own Documents To The Public
Creates Manchester Reading Room Of All His Records
Manchester - Today, Wes Clark opened the doors to his Manchester Reading Room and Clark slammed the Bush Administration for governing behind closed doors. The public can come to the Manchester Reading Room to find out about Wes Clark's personal and financial track record.

"It's time President Bush played it straight with the American people," Clark said. "President Bush has shut the people out of government and told them they have no right to know what he says to special interests in the Oval Office. As President, my administration will be an open book. We need a higher standard of leadership in Washington."

Clark put forward a two-part plan to reverse the Bush Administration's secrecy policies and to make his administration the most open presidency in history:

Reverse Bush Secrecy Policies:

End hiding of documents through classification extension and FOIA rollbacks.
End the stonewall of the investigation of September 11th and Bush's Energy Task Force.
Establish an Openness Doctrine:

Restrict the assertion of executive privilege.
Eliminate secret task forces.
Disclose all meetings with special interests.
Require lobbyists to reveal more.
Use the Internet to make government transparent.

11. Very Impressive
this is another reason why I like Clark. He dispenses with those things considered controversial by being open and honest so he can move on to the important issues of this campaign.
He does not duck those - he has policy papers on his site for all to see.

He does not allow others to set his agenda - he is the leader!
All the way to election day with Clark!!!

Does the "Reading Room" contain the names of the innocent civilians
in Serbia and Kososo that were killed by Nato during his 78 day bombing campaign while he was Nato commander?
Or even an apology for their deaths.

These are historical facts and a part of his record.

30. First...
why not post a link, instead of an >800-line post? It's rude to everybody trying to read this thread.

Second, your intimation is that somehow Clark killed these people. That's ridiculous.

Why not respond to the issue being discussed, which is the release of Clark's records? This list has nothing to do with Clark's records, other than to make a dramatic, yet misplaced point.

Clark didn't kill these people. Clark had nothing to do with this. And it's off-topic.

38. This one I will continue to debunk
Because for the countless newbies signing on every day, this assertation (unfounded, I might add) that Clark is responsible for the behavior of SOA graduates some 20 years ago (prior to his involvement with the school) needs to be addressed.

I know it gets weary... believe me. Seems people will believe what they want to believe, regardless.

36. History (repeating itself)
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 09:24 PM by Wife_of_a_Wes_Freak
According to your post, those deaths occured in 1981, well before Wesley Clark had anything to do with the now re-named SOA. Democrats were in control of the White House and Congress from 1992-1994 and yet they did not close the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.

That would include Gore, Bradley, and Harkin.

And why didn't they close it? Because, from the time the School of the Americas got started, it's been changed. Every student is screened and they are taught human rights instruction in every class. Clark asserts that anyone committing heinous crimes (WHISC graduates included) should be prosecuted. And many of them were, including Manuel Noriega, who is in jail now, thanks to the USA. WHISC is responsible for promoting human rights across Central America and South America. And rather than try to banish it, we should look at the record over the last 20 years, and recognize that bringing those foreign students here is our best hope for preventing human rights abuses in Central and South America.

41. That's 3 strikes: off-topic, misleading, and a gratuitous smear
  • Off-topic as in: "Yes, but what about the weather in Vermont?"
  • Misleading, as in: "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"
  • Smear, as in: "Wes Clark does NOT support breeching human rights, and in fact has laid down a challenge to provide proof so that he will "kill" WHISC - or else, shaddap already."

Ugh...

50. Speaking of beating wives
I would very much like to see all records having to do with Dean's security officer for nine years, state trooper Dennis Madore. Phone records, correspondence, reports, affidavits.

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/WNT/Investigation/dean_domestic_abuse_040114-1.html

I would like to hear from Governor Dean about why he would write a three page affidavit of support in a custody hearing for this man, saying he was "a firm but gentle disciplinarian," which seems to indicate he was familiar with this family. Why would a governor use his power against a woman trying to keep her children from an abusive husband?

"A spokesman for Dean said the governor's office received formal notification of the Madore investigation but the document could not be found in a search by ABCNEWS of the governor's files."

Open those files.
