Displaying the post count requires a database lookup for
*EVERY* post displayed as part of a thread; it's a relatively
huge overhead!

We are too spoiled by all the nice features and improvements elad and skinner have given us.

I'd rather have the speed than the slow drag of the site during the primaries.
