Riding a late surge in the polls leading into Monday's caucuses, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry rallied a boisterous crowd Saturday night in Iowa City, telling about 1,000 supporters to stand up come caucus night to "reclaim the democracy."

"My friends, as you go to the caucus this Monday, let me remind you, polls don't turn out caucus-goers, people turn out caucus-goers," Kerry said Saturday night during a rally at Old Capitol Town Center, surrounded by an entourage of local and state Democratic leaders. "What we need to do is do the work within the next 48 hours. We need to be focused, so as you go to those caucuses on Monday, I ask you to carry with you the purpose of our party, the history of our party, the clarity of our vision for this country," he said. "I ask you to carry with you the strength and the vision of Franklin Roosevelt, of Harry Truman and John Kennedy and Bill Clinton, who offered hope and leadership to America."
Gephardt rallied a crowd of about 100 Saturday morning at the Solon Public Library.
"Monday is a big night," Gephardt told the group of farmers, businessmen and women, union representatives and homemakers. "You will stand in the shoes of every Democrat. This is not about me, it's about us," Gephardt said. "I'm just an instrument to make this country a better country. This is a dead-heat race, this is going to be close, so don't leave one stone unturned. You must come out." http://www.press-citizen.com/news/011804kerrygephardt.htm
