"A Democrat's Democrat":
I hope this hasn't been posted yet. I didn't see it anywhere.

"A Democrat's Democrat": Top Dem Supports Clark
<snip>
Wes Clark's broad-based support continues to be strong. Sunday, George McGovern, the former Senator and Democratic presidential nominee announced his endorsement of Clark.

"There are a lot of good Democrats in this race, but Wes Clark is the best Democrat," said McGovern, who is also a veteran and war hero. "He is a true progressive. He's the Democrat's Democrat. I've been around the political block--and I can tell you, I know a true progressive when I see one. And that's why he has my vote."

Clark has long admired McGovern's activist and humanitarian work, finding in him a model of passion and compassion.

"Whether you're a farmer or a factory worker--a kid who needs a decent meal, or a parent who needs a job--you always have a great friend in Senator McGovern," said Clark. "As a scholar, a statesman, and a humanitarian, Senator McGovern has spent more than sixty years calling this country, and our world, to a higher standard." <snip>

3. Respectully submitted
Dean is certainly some democrats' democrat. Fact of the matter is, many democrats are supporting Dean, which defines the term, "democrat's democrat."

We would do well to continue speaking highly of all our candidates, as the race is not over yet. The NRA thing may trouble me as well, yet that would be best served as its own topic. Perhaps you could start a thread to discuss NRA. I for one would like to hear Dean's position on NRA today, not his past positions, which may have changes (as is the thinking man's right.)

5. Now Now
I always get in trouble with DU when I talk about the Governors politics. So now I just work for the General and don't comment on the "stuff".

4. and yet
we are all entitled to our opinions. Your opinion may be the strongest to you, but I would hope no one would negate it based soley on the fact that they disagree with it.

Good luck in IA! I'm quite impressed with Kerry's recent climb to the top.

9. Where in that article
did it say that Clark is MORE of a Democrat than Kerry? Nowhere. Why can't people just let Clark have an endorsement without pissing on it? :grr: This isn't sour grapes, is it? When John Kerry was endorsed by the Iowa newspapers last week, did I go on ANY of the threads and post a post like yours? NO! Just give Clark his due, OK? Stop with the jealousy crap.

11. MY point is....
just because he's saying Wes Clark IS a Democrat's Democrat isn't saying Kerry's NOT. That's just silly.

12. Kerry smeared Wes via Shaheen
Makes us a little sensitive when you needlessly inject Kerry into this thread.

Anyway, I read your posts all the time and I respect you and, for the most part, your candidate. Just trying to give you the Clark supporter perspective.

14. Cool; now let's make sure one of our guys wins
Because Kerry/Clark, Clark/Kerry is our path to victory in 04. People who think this campaign is going to be about health care are wrong. We need to confront BushCo's skin-deep politically-inspired patriotism with two military heroes. The thought of these guys teaming up is awesome, IMHO. War hero/anti-war hero, this is about resolution on the deepest level. Would be great for the party and the country.

yesterday and all she did was repeat the same OLD rhetoric....the ONLY thing they can come up with about Clark...He's a republican who voted for Nixon. :eyes: OK, Jeanne...WHATEVER! We haven't heard THAT before. :grr:

16. Too bad she voted for him too in 68
That's what makes the attack xtra lame...

"Former New Hampshire governor Jeanne Shaheen, the cochairwoman of Senator John F. Kerry's New Hampshire campaign, this week rapped retired Army General Wesley K. Clark over his Democratic credentials -- in particular, his votes for Republican presidents Richard M. Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush. But the Clark campaign yesterday pointed out that Shaheen herself voted for Nixon in 1968. Shaheen revealed that fact to a Globe reporter in 1995, in a story about her political evolution. At the time, she told the Globe, she was concerned about disarray in the Democratic Party. Shaheen voted for George McGovern against Nixon in 1972 and got involved in New Hampshire Democratic politics shortly thereafter, according to the story. The Kerry campaign sniffed at the Shaheen-Clark comparison. "For 35 years, Jeanne Shaheen has been a leading Democrat in New Hampshire," said Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan. "Wes Clark has been a Democrat in New Hampshire for about 3 1/2 seconds." (Globe Staff)"

6. Wow!
That's a heavy endorsement. If Clark had any perceived weakness, the loyalty to the Democratic Party was at the top of the list. This will go a great length in dispelling those doubts.

7. I expect nothing but the best is coming our way
"There are a lot of good Democrats in this race, but Wes Clark is the best Democrat," said McGovern, who is also a veteran and war hero. "He is a true progressive. He's the Democrat's Democrat. I've been around the political block--and I can tell you, I know a true progressive when I see one. And that's why he has my vote."

With Clark being endorsed by yet another true Democrat from the Democratic wing of the Democratic party....All I can say is "Watch and Learn"....We're on the road to the Whitehouse!

Wesley Clark....and then there were none!
