Kucinich Draws Attention From Other Political Parties

FARMINGTON— He'd order an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, create a Cabinet-level Department of Peace and pull the U.S. out of the World Trade Organization.Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich acknowledged here on Saturday that he's a different kind of politician, who may not be leading the pack of Democrats seeking the party's nomination for president.
"My intention is to make the Democrats a viable second party," Kucinich said. "And the reason why I can win this election is my ability to reach out to bring into the Democratic Party and to vote for a Democrat, the Greens, Natural Law Party members, Libertarians on issues of freedom and the Patriot Act, Reform Party members on trade."
Kucinich traveled to New Mexico two days before the Iowa caucuses on Monday to speak to Navajos and others at the 3rd annual Diné Bidziil Navajo Strength Coalition Conference. About 200 people were on hand.Norman Patrick Brown, a coalition leader, said a majority of the coalition's 24 Navajo grassroots organizations support Kucinich because of his vow to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq and his focus on peace. "Navajos have the highest percentage of any ethnic group in the military," Brown said. "We want our sons and daughters and fathers and mothers to come home. We support our Navajo warriors but it's difficult for any of us to support the war."

Many northern New Mexico Greens support Kucinich and have switched their party affiliations— however briefly = to have a chance to vote for him Feb. 3
