Poll question: Worst case scenerio: Edward folk need not reply :)
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 12:58 PM by Wife_of_a_Wes_Freak
Okay, this poll if for those of us who are supporters of any other candidate but Edwards.

Who is your #2 guy? (Poll posted in regards to the number of people who a.)support a candidate other than Edwards and b.) seem to have very favorable opinions of Edwards.

Edited b/c I'm a moron and left off Edwards...lol

2. Same here
And I've seen that sentiment among many supporters of other candidates... so I'm curious as to whether Edwards is going to emerge as the new "dark horse."

Thanks for the kick!

7. That's fair, Sir
However, I'm only curious as to the percentage regarding each candidates' #2 status. Hence, why I did not include the "other" catagory.

5. Edwards is my current #2 choice
I'm not comfortable with his votes on some of the Bush agenda, but I pick him over Clark because at least I know Edwards is for real. Actually Edwards was who I was leaning towards before I knew about Howard Dean. And I respect him for avoiding the DLC shark attack festival against Dean for the most part.

8. Many similiarities
as I was leaning toward Edwards before Clark came on the scene. While I do not have anything to back this up, I remember reading on DU that Edward's voting record shows that he opposed GW more than anyone else. If someone can back this up, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, please take it with a grain of salt.

15. Edwards, to much of a nice guy
Edwards spends to much time talking about his past much like Gore speaking about talking to little old ladies. A soft spoken one will not beat W. We need someone who will come out fighting, tell the world just what Bush represents. Edwards spends to much of his time speaking about coming from a poor family and being successful. I don't think that Edwards is up to the task of taking on Bush.

23. Maybe his soft touch
is the reason why he was underestimated as a contender. However, what he can do, one-on-one to Bush remains to be seen. I have a feeling it's softball right now, but the major league play off will certainly show us how tough our candidate (whoever that may be) can be.

All backbiting aside, I think all our candidates are taking it quite easy on each other... and I commend them for that. They're saving the hard stuff for Bush the Lesser.

27. Don't forget..
that he's a trial lawyer, he didn't win those cases by being soft-spoken. He's waiting to take the fight straight to Bush and I think he can take him on.

9. I don't understand why you don't want Edwards supporters to respond
to the poll. That would seem to skew the results.

Notwithstanding, I'm not an Edwards supporter, so I will respond.

My (distant) number 2 changes often. I like both Clark and Edwards, currently with Edwards at #2.

GO DEAN!!!

but this Kucinich/Edwards deal is making me take a good look at Edwards.

Clark is on my short list. This is the kind of stuff you miss out on when you concede Iowa.

19. I have no idea who I want at this point...
I really like Kerry, Clark, Dean, and Edwards a lot. Lieberman lost my support a while ago because he's just too conservative for my taste. And as far as Gephardt goes I just cannot see him beating Bush. He's failed at winning a majority in congress for 8 years and frankly I think he's a politician of a different time period. Frankly I think Dennis Kucinich could run a better race against Bush than Gephardt because Kucinich is so opposite of Bush that he can expose everything wrong that Bush has done without having to ask himself "oh wait, did I support that?". Edwards concerns me a bit because he's only spent one term as a US Senator. On one hand people might argue that he hasn't been there long enough for anybody to accuse him to be corrupt and people can't blame certain things on him because he's only been there for so long. But at the same time, his lack of campaign experience concerns me. Basically in the end I'm eager to support whoever wins the democratic nomination because I know that they will do a 200% better job than Bush will.

Thanks for a great polling... 30 minutes and counting, and not ONE truly negative word about our candidates, or the opinions of others who have responded.

25. The atmosphere overall here in GD '04..
has cleaned up nicely, how long can this last? ;)

It gives good hopes for how it will be here after one of our candidates gets the nod. :)

26. It will most likely hold up
b/c the mods are working over time to keep it clean. Hopefully, when these primaries are OVER, the mods can take a much deserved break, and we'll all throw our support behind our candidate.

24. Well my list keeps changing lately-
But Obviously I support Kucinich and Kerry is currently #2. I like Edwards overall, but I have some specific issues I just hate his stance on. Medical marijuana is one but being friendly with Kucinich could sway his position which puts him a bit higher in the running than he was a day or two ago.

28. Clark's my Plan B
It's been that way for quite a while. I admit that Edwards speaks very well. I'd like to see him as the chief prosecuter when the junta goes on trial at the Hague.
