Weaver is by most accounts a solid guy, and a brilliant strategist.

by a campaign that sincerely wants to reach out and bring home centrist independents and a few moderate Republicans. BTW, that is THE sound strategy for Nov '04 electoral success. The angry liberal vote is important but is far short of a winning majority.

I think someone who wins the support of avowed liberals like McGovern and Michael Moore and who makes these kinds of gestures represents a pretty broad-based threat to *.

The problem with McCain's run was not only SC, but also that Bush had locked up the cash and establishment, so that even McCain's victory in Michigan couldn't save him.

As for Weaver getting killed by Rove before, good judgment comes from experience. And experience comes from bad judgment. I think Weaver will be ready this time.

And yes, he knows Rowe. Great addition for Clark. I don't know if it was a coincidence or strategic, but the timing FOLLOWING Moore and McGovern's endorsements of Clark is perfect. First shore up Progressive Democratic credentials, then emphasis the broad base maverick insurgency of Clark's campaign. I suspect it was planned this way. Clark's campaign has been very sharp over the last month or two.

The Dean foreign policy advisor that showed up to the 1st LD meeting (Bothell, WA) representing the campaign wove his Reagan/Bush flag sky high; boasting about Dean's bipartisan approach on foreign policy and about how Republicans love Dean.

If Clark can't win the nomination or drops out before my state then Dean will get my vote.
