Clark Campaign Beats the SPIT Out of Tom Delay!
Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 01:21 PM by DoveTurnedHawk
Clark Campaign Strategist Reid Cherlin responded to Tom `Chicken-hawk' Delay's latest cowardly comments, "The closest to real combat that Tom `Chicken-Hawk' Delay has ever come was when he got himself a student deferment from Vietnam and instead suited up in his exterminator outfit and defended the people of Texas against invading cockroaches, marauding red ants and hostile moths. Wes Clark has seen real combat, given his blood for our country, and commanded troops in battle, which is why he believes we need to win the war on terrorism instead of declaring victory when we all know that the terrorists directly responsible for 9/11 are still out there at large. General Clark lives in a world where he believes that America will be stronger, safer and more secure if we are focused on winning the war against the terrorists, getting Osama bin Laden and working with our Allies."

Just to remind people of the Chicken-hawk's views on military service, here is what he has said about his lack of military experience, in an excerpt from the Houston Press:

"He and Quayle, DeLay explained to the assembled media in New Orleans, were victims of an unusual phenomenon back in the days of the undeclared Southeast Asian war. `So many minority youths had volunteered for the well-paying military positions to escape poverty and the ghetto that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself.' Satisfied with the pronouncement, which dumbfounded more than a few of his listeners who had lived the sixties, DeLay marched off to the convention." <Houston Press, 1/7/99>

4. Was this in response to Chickenhawk Delay's
appearance on Meet the Press. Delay was his usual miserable self - he detests Clark and the feeling is mutual. It was Delay that threatened to have funds cut off for our troops in Kosovo.

6. I Think That Must Have Been It
Delay not only expressed his glee at the prospect of a Dean candidacy (as described in a thread here), he also slammed Clark and the other Dem candidates as well.

11. Ah, Yes, My Friend
The volunteering of minority youth for well-paying military positions back in those days....

They learned of their decision to volunteer by receipt of registered mail, and combat duty paid something shy of minimum wage. It was a sure ticket out of poverty; people were clamouring to serve in Viet Nam as a means of upward mobility....

And it demonstrates formidable research skills on very short notice.

This is why the General is the best among our candidates to put up against Bush: the stereotypical Republican smear jobs will be thrown right back in their faces, by one with impeccable credentials and credibility.

Oh, and it is good to see you, my friend.

13. Other quotes by Clark
I have heard reveal better and stronger political skills than most of the other candidates. Baiting and trapping this guy has begun to backfire more and more. Kind of late to ignore him which is the mode they tried to put the latecoming amateur into immediately while they probed for weaknesses. I find it hard to recall in history a more skilled general turned politican(although he always presents himself as a bit more comfortable from the miltiary professional side- which preserves his non-politican authenticity). And his values are certainly better and more democratic than most if not all generals who became president.

The military box is disappointingly satill a global reality but in consequence it brings a personality above the current bureaucratic mediocrities cynically spoiling this century.

Of course I have good things to say about all the top candidates, but Clark blossoming as the most improved politico with apparent ability to strategize beyond the battlefield is the most impressive so far. To put it bluntly, despite real strengths in the others, Clark does not seem to flounder.

25. Me too!
It's been far too long since the Democrats grew a pair. The pink-tutu gang (to borrow a BartCop-ism), rolled over for Bush, Delay, and Co.

This is a page from the Big Dogs playbook, when he linked Dole to Gingrich.

Keep kicking GOP ass, Wes!

23. We need to start doing this to Delay more often
Our party needs to challenge him, and clown on him...he's a tone-deaf little bastard with no sense of humor. It would only enrage him and make him look more the fool!

Little chickenhawk creep - Delay you are a coward and moran!

27. I think...
they're just accustomed to making these charges with no retaliation forthcoming. Clark is changing that. He doesn't whine about the tactics, he doesn't make a generic statement against the right-wing, he turns it around and goes right after Delay himself.

I don't think Delay's used to this - it may take him awhile to learn.
