I will never watch them again. I will tune the damn stuff out. If the Media suceeds in doing to any of our candidates what they did to Gore then they are truly all powerful. We don't have a chance if they can pick before Iowa has even caucused WHO the Dem Winner will be. And, they seem to feel their predictions will hold right up until the Election!

It was too soon to crown him the victor and it's also too soon to assume that he's failing. People are quick to jump to conclusions when it comes to Dean, but he's going to have to work hard to secure the nomination and we'll see how it all pans out. :)

15. Just the First Step

Dean has a following and Dean has momentum. He was so strong it basically left the others in the dust for a while and now they are making natural surges. It was the phonomenon that was so interesting and even invigorating. I don't think Dean is ready to check out of this race by a long shot, the complexion has just changed a bit. I am not a Dean fanatic, but he has given me some optimism for my party convinced me I do not stand alone in my ideological leanings. I will support the Democratic Nominee, whoever that may be.

I just want the nominee to have some fire, and be able to lead us out of this quagmire with conviction, passion and leadership. There is a difference between the two parties, lets start bragging about it instead of trying to obscure it.

I thought seriously about supporting Edwards in the early days. Young, charismatic, southern. He seemed to have the right credentials. If he becomes the candidate I will certainly give him my wholehearted support.
Dean's Take Back the Party slogan, however, was a like a touchstone to me. And thats what pulled me toward him and away from the other candidates. We are not Republicans, we should not try to disguise ourselves so. We should stand proud as Democrats and those of use who are of the Liberal persuasion should shout it from the mountain tops and take our label back from the mindless ditto heads and others of their ilk.
I just hope whoever gets the nomination, really runs and runs hard. I hope he does not let himself (I can say that now) get bogged down by so many political advisors that gut instinct is the first casualty of his campaign.

26. Whether they know it or not, the party is RELYING on Dean right now

Dean's fire is the only thing the party has going for it. The rest of the candidates are letting him do all the trailblazing through the neo-con garbage, and then they attack him for it. LOL

He's gonna get all the credit, though. And if Dean ever DID drop out of the race (which he won't, of course)....the Democratic campaign would suddenly become as exciting as Thursday Night Bingo at Shady Acres Retirement Community. The election would be OVER.

I see one DUer has no objection to the term 'storm trooper.' May be very young, I don't know, but most people do not have any other word association for storm trooper than NAZI. Dean is a sensitive guy and he cannot possibly have a tin ear for such a term. Even if some of the younger set are using the term, putting it in print was inexcusable.

He is a fine man but he needs to get a firmer hand on the controls of his campaign. The national media are all whores for headlines and they will merrily destroy anyone to sell their fishwrap. Just ask Al Gore.

I agree with you. It was hard to get excited about anyone, then along came Dean. Hardly a blip on the radar but he was saying what everyone else was afraid to say. He deserves the credit and I hope he is in the race to the end. I am very worried about the Bingo thing, it cannot become a snoozefest. Truth must rule the day, and our candidate must be the standardbearer of that Truth. Agressively speaking out on all the truths behind the propaganda machine of the Bush administration.

Just like some Democrats, like Ann Richards see something in Howard Dean that boggles my mind. I don't automatically call her names so I can't understand why somebody who says something negative about Dean is automatically called names.

I like what Carville had to say about Kerry, he's gone through the worst that life has to offer and defeated it all. He's a warrior. He can stand on a stage and without even opening his mouth, make George Bush look like a scrawny little wimp.

Normally, when I watch Crossfire, I get disgusted with Tucker Carlson and Robert Novak because, well, they're jerks at times. I believe that all Republicans (hee, I'm a philosopher) have good traits and bad traits, and Novak and Carlson usually embody most of the bad and none of the good.

But today, they were both very civil. I was pleased to see them speaking positively about Edwards, who is my pick. Though there were a few jabs here and there, they were mostly joking in nature and what one would expect from that type of show. But Carville was just nasty when he was talking about getting Bush and Kerry on a stage. He was right, but there was no need for him to go Bush-bashing when the Republicans on the show were being courteous and almost nonpartisan for once.
