This seems to suggest (or "prove") that "celebrity" political endorsements, whether from Gore, Harkin, Carol Mosely-Braun, etc., don't necessarily translate into big gains for a candidate.

Also, "big name" endorsements are cool - but thinking or suggesting that the endorsee can take it to the bank as a collateral for voters needs to stick to his/her daytime job.

Endorsements provide, more than anything, publicity and a sense of "legitimacy" - last time I checked, votes come from voters.

Aside from that...

Isn't it better to try and err, than to play safe?

I like Gore a lot more, since he started speaking upfront.

Doesn't negate that I'd like him better endorsing Clark tho! :evilgrin:

Am I correct in thinking that this whole thread full of posters thinks Al Gore is a loser? Let's state the obvious: Gore endorsed my candidate, and my candidate is losing in Iowa tonight. But beyond that, are all of you so...so, do you really all hate Al Gore that much?

I think Ted Kennedy is a fine senator and a fine liberal.

I think the world of Michael Moore. He's done wonderful things for the cause of progressivism.

I felt when Bush got all that money and made the party fall in line before all this in 2000 that it left the GOP with him even when they had better people. He went in on a name. It is best to sort of let them fight it out. We all saw Bush was going to play dirty when we saw what he did to McCain.I do not like that Kerry voted to let Bush go to war but guess I will take it as I like the rest he stands for.

I think his recent statements show him to be ahead of where most people are---far enough ahead so that most people aren't able to immediately follow but not so far ahead that he has no influence.
