Kerry, Edwards senators...what about the 'snake-bit' factor for senators?

If I'm not mistaken, Kennedy was the only President who was elected after being a Senator, isn't that right? This isn't a flame, I like both of them very much, but Americans don't seem to like to elect former senators...generally. I have no idea why, unless it's the "inside Washington" stigma...
any comments?

Post 9-11 you DON'T underestimate the pull that Fire Fighters and veterans will have with the electorate. Kerry will pull more votes from the GOP than you've ever seen before.

5. Past history has nothing to do with this election

We Americans face a lot different world than even four years ago. We need a candidate that isn't going to waste any time getting comfortable in their new position. We need a candidate that will be able to hit the ground running... there's a lot of cleaning up to do, this spoiled brat of a president has created quite a mess.

9. These are different Senators.

First, not many Senators get nominated. Kennedy, Goldwater, McGovern, and Dole are the only ones that come to mind. There was no way Dole was going to win against Clinton, and Goldwater lost because he was far right. That leaves Kennedy and McGovern... not to shabby, 1 for 2.

Second, Kerry and Edwards are good men, different from the average Senator methinks. Both are likeable; both are more than worthy of the office; neither is far-left; Kerry is very experienced, Edwards is very inspiring.

Senators? Well, yeah. Strong nominees? Yeah.
