Or even Pat Buchanan one last time. Since Bush and all of the above mentioned Republicans have moved to the left on immigration, I would expect an anti-immigrant candidate to do quite well. Pete Wilson would have won another term as CA governor had he run again. An awful lot of voters want to get tough on immigration, but for some reason this is one of very few issues where the Republican Party takes the Democrat position.
