Crikey! Its his neighbor state and he has Ted Kennedy's support. I don't see how anyone can beat him there. Including Bush. What do you think?

He is a local boy, and it is pecularistic region, even more so than the south. For that reason, a victory for him there will be devalued by analysis; already factored in the market, so to speak.

The next real battle will be in the southern and midwestern big state primaries. These will be a battle between Gen. Clark, sen. Kerry, and Sen. Edwards, all of whom have sound prospects in the coming fall. Gov. Dean, peace to his many adherents here, has been knocked out in the first skirmishing....

7. Kerry has to be the favorite in New Hampshire now

However, if Edwards can stay in the top 3 with a solid (20%+) showing, he'll be a real force as the race moves south. This is still wide open. All we know right now is that Gephardt is done and Dean is very much on the ropes. If Dean doesn't do well in New Hampshire, he's in real trouble. His campaign runs on forward momentum and, without it, he'll have a problem (especially in the Southern states).

The questions:

Who will Gephardt endorse and when will he endorse them? This can be VERY important.

How will Clark and Lieberman do in NH? Kerry and Edwards' big wins are a mixed bag for them. They love seeing Dean hobbled but Kerry coming in strong is a lot to deal with. It's hard to be the anti-Dean when there already is one.

Will Dean finish in the top 3 in NH? If he doesn't, will he remain in the race (he still has a lot of money)?

Will Dean's and Kucinich's results spur a Green party movement?

How do Gore & Moseley-Braun (among others) feel about their political futures at the moment?

The Kerry train will roll in to NH and the people of New England will remember why they loved him for 30+ years.

I see Clark, not Dean as Kerry's main competition in NH. Dean was pummeled tonight and the press will be very bad .. IMO Dean's bubble has officially burst.

and perhaps takes Dean down a few pegs there as well. I think Clark can still do well there: he's been campaigning hard in the state, and the impression I get is that the more people see and hear him, the more they like him. Yes Kerry is local, but...

I'm from Mass, and although Kerry is a good senator, he's never really excited people. I know some (non-political) folks who absolutely hate him for various reasons. And I know some (political) folks who won't vote for him because of the IWR. And I'm sure that a number of folks in NH consider him way too liberal. So yes, he should do very well in NH, but perhaps not as well as people are now expecting.
