If we hate the DLC so much, then why are they our party's face?

Just was reading in the news, that whenever there's a quote from the Democrats about soul-searching and whatnot, its from the good people at the Democratic Leadership Council advocating a move to the right. Why is this? I'm growing increasingly distressed that the Democrats are just becoming another Republican party and I want answers.

Honestly, we need to 1. take our party back -- oust the DLC; 2. take the power back at the local level.

I think the DLC lost control of the party after Bush 'won' the first time and the are trying to get it back under their control. But Dems are so angry about losing to Bush again that only the talking heads of the DLC are saying "go right." Everyone else on the 'ground floor' is saying "we've tasted the right and we don't like it!"

Sure there will always be those conservative Dems who lean right. But I think this pendulum is swinging back the other way. The question is how long will it take and how far to the left will it swing?

After 4 more years of Bush tearing this country apart and our diminishing respect in the world, their is very likely going to be a resurgence of liberal ideals --only they may not be called 'liberal' by then --just 'sane.'

We need to let our reps know that we won't support them if they move right.

We don't need the far-right fringe GOP running against the center-right DLC.

If you walk into the showroom knowing the only car you'll buy is a particular model by a particular manufacturer, you're gonna get screwed.

You have to be prepared to walk away.

If the Dems move any further right, they won't represent me, anyway. (I'm a social ultra-liberal who believes in personal freedom above all else, and a fiscal conservative who believes that we really DON'T need to spend more on our military than the next 47 nations combined.)

Right now, the Dems come the closest to representing me, but they don't have it right, and they're not winning elections. I say we "throw the fear of God" into 'em, and demand they represent us.

Do we really have anything to lose? ( o/ Freedom is just another word for... o/ )

I guess my rep would be John Edwards because I'm in NC and that's the only Democrat I know of offhand.

What can we do, though, to take an issue with the DLC? I definitely think they have far to accomodating as of the last 8 years (and I'm in a Red State, do I count?), but I'm so frustrated. It feels almost like dealing with a car dealership.

They could have gracious, and just said, 'well, he represents one part of the party. We're a big tent, and we work together on our common goals.' But noooo.... they had to make dumb remarks about they had to stifle him or something.

8. The reason they advocate moving to the right

is because that's what they're corporate masters tell them to say. The DLC is simply a kinder,gentler, republican party. I think the left wing needs to figure out a way to grab hold of the party, but I'm not sure how.

when you continue to feed the party. Stop giving ANY $ to the dems and let them know why if you've the opportunity. It's the only way they're gonna change. Same tactic (with a twist) that we were using on Sinclair a few months ago. Vote for your party's leadership with your "pocketbook".

They were sold a bill of goods and got screwed at the end of the 1980s when they first arrived. Now we have them under our tent.

What needs to happen most is that we need to take a stand against people who are willing to bend to corporations because they take corporate cash. This party supposedly was for the working man and woman in this country, but it's appallingly apparent that corporations are increasingly gaining more power in the party at the expense of workers.

This party needs to cast off the chains of corporatism before it begins to rise to the surface once again. Right now, we're drowning, and we need to cut loose the weights. We're going to see our republic die under the weight of corporatism if we continue this way, and Hitler would be laughing his sick ass off in hell at us 60 years after we supposedly defeated the scourge of corporatism (aka fascism).
