It's been more than a decade since the two houses of the state Legislature could agree on an agenda for a special session.
Now, House Speaker Allan Bense and Senate President Tom Lee have issued a joint resolution to call a Dec. 13 special session.
There is a dual message here. The first message is clear: Our new legislative leaders are getting along so well they have been able to agree on the agenda for the session.
This might seem a simple thing, but no two leaders have been able to do this since the summer of 1992, when House Speaker T.K. Wetherell and Senate President Gwen Margolis extended the regular session for 10 days to reach agreement on a budget.
