Iowa --- "new voter registration" all you need to win...?

It seems Kerry and Edwards found some magic in the "new voters"...

The question is "why them"? You figure out that question and you have much better insight into this "surprise".

I find it odd...they did not have "large teams" of people...Gep and Dean did?

SO "they turned the new voters on"...crossover or new voters.

The caucuses are local and public. Do you really think THOUSANDS of known republicans registered Democratic just for tonight, went to the caucuses with all their neighbors and then voted for.... well whom? Kerry? Edwards? They sure didn't seem coordinated.

Personally, I'm thrilled new registration was up so much. That's a great sign for the party.

But if you think Dean would've won if not for the new voters... well... I don't know what to say. It's an absurd suggestion.

I've read that Dean's poor showing is the result of republican voters, Karl Rove, unfair attacks, biased media, etc. etc. Maybe... just MAYBE... he did poorly because more people preferred Kerry and Edwards. I know it's a crazy idea, but it's worth considering.

Dean wasn't owed Iowa. He's not owed the nomination. If he fails to get it, it's because Democrats support someone else. It won't mean he was cheated or robbed.

Are you relatively new to politics? Gore was supported by more Americans than Bush. Are you saying that HE wasn't cheated or robbed? Politics are a very dirty game, better check your history books.

7. This whole thing seems like the twilight zone....

I think Kerry's great...all our candidates have contributed a good deal to the primary so far.

But Kerry first, EDWARDS second (???), Dean third???????, and Gep. 4th?

With "new" voters...we know who's been signing up all the new voters. It's Dean.

I'm NOT a strong supporter, yet, of any ONE of the candidates, though I have contributed to a couple of them.

I'm just scratching my head...just one more election in this country that doesn't make any SENSE to me.

Call me "tinfoil" or whatever you want, but it's just another 'weird' election result, as far as I'm concerned.

New Hampshire will be interesting.

8. The Iowa voters spoke.

End of this part of the story. Kerry won; he should be congratulated. The idea that something "funny" went on because a particular candidate didn't win is how voters become disgruntled and form 3rd parties - is that really what anyone wants, right now? If Iowa had wanted someone else, they would have voted for someone else - period.
