Why Hillary Should Never Be President

I'll qualify this statement somewhat. I like Hillary and if nominated, I would support her enthusiastically b/c I want a Democrat to win and I think she'd make a decent President.

But I have major reservations about a Hillary Clinton run. There's the one about her being unlikely to win. More damaging, however, is the fact that a Hillary Clinton win would put the United States in a position where two families would have controlled the Presidency for a total of between 24 and 28 years (1989-2013 or 1989-2017).

That's not healthy for democracy. And it's bad for both parties. We can't become bound to one family as a party (and I think being beholden to the Bush family is going to bite the Republicans in the ass too).

I'm personally hoping that in 2009 I will be able to make reference to a President Edwards or President Warner or President Kerry or President Dean or Clark or Rendell or... whoever - but a President who's title isn't followed by the names "Clinton" or "Bush".

On the other hand, my Senator Hagel (hated Hagel of ES&S fame) voted against it.

I would rather vote for Hagel than Hillary.

I wept after the hearings today. Speakers were eloquent. Issues were heart-rending, and I had an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness and powerlessness.

So just now I want to talk about how we should not vote for Hillary in 2008. (Like it matters who I vote for anyway)

our Democracy. I think there should be some sort of nepotisim law enacted. I remember they interviewed some old peckerwood in South Carolina during the 2000 primaries. When they asked him what he liked about Bush he said: " I don't know that much about him, but I'm voting for him cause I really liked his daddy"

Dynasties are never good for democracy....

Either way, I hope she's not eleccted. I'm not impressed with her record or performance in the senate...and I have not even the slightest confidence that she could win.
