MoveOn wants suggestions for DNC Chair right away...

well, not exactly suggestions...but according to the letter I received today, they want us to email the state leaders who will be meeting in Orlando on Saturday to urge them to choose someone who will not be part of a special interest group.

That really says a hell of a lot, doesn't it?

Anyone else get this letter?

His name has been tossed around quite a bit lately, so I hope he's actually in the running. I think he would be great for the job.

2. Moveon wants to get corporations out of the party so that

The Democratic Party will represent OUR interests, not corporations. Getting rid of corporate donors would put us in a stronger position to criticize the GOP as being the party of big business. We could make a strong point about the selling out of America for corporate interests--but only if our party leaders aren't pocketing megabucks from many of the same corporations that chow down at the GOP pig trough.

6. I am confused,

what is happening with MoveOn?

I mean, they are in some ways an obvious choice as an organization to use for reform of the Democratic Party (large, well known, able to raise lots of money) -- but isn't this somewhat outside of their "charter"?

I guess that they are trying to dance on the line -- working against the power of special interest groups is a nonpartisan concern.

but choosing the DNC Chair is internal Democratic Party politics. And the statement in the original post: "to urge them to choose someone who will not be part of a special interest group", is in the nature of specific guidance. They could have just said something like: "to let them know how you feel".

Now, I not criticizing MoveOn, I am just curious if this is the start of a trend... And I happy with this particular guidance. -- The last thing that we need is a business as usual approach.
