Repub Candidate in 2008

I dunno. Who do you think the repukes will run in 2008? They will have fucked up our country beyond all turning back by then, so perhaps they might put up a peace offering? Someone who really does show some "good" traits as a puke? I'm wondering--will John McCain's name be proposed, perhaps as a "reward" for his supporting the chimp in this election?

I bring this up not because I want to really debate the issue, but wonder if people will be *finally* smart enough in 2008 to reject the puke platform? If they do, will they be swayed by a moderate like McCain?

What we need to focus on is who the Democrats are going to run and how to stop the right wing from a total takeover. Fuck them. Lets get our own house in order first.

Whoever the Repubs run will be proclaimed a moderate by the mainstream press/media, whoever the Dems run will be seen as a left wing extremist by same press/media. It could be Attilla the Hun vs. Zell Miller, and Attilla will be portrayed as the moderate and Zell 'the most liberal man in the Senate'.

5. Long list of contenders

Frist, McCain, Hagel, and Giuliani come to mind. Of those four, Frist would probably have the easiest time getting by the Christian Right.
Then there are governors.

McCain- too old, not fundemental enough.

The modedrates will be gone- they will be so oppressed that they will either cvhange their political affiliation (don't hold your breath) or lose in primaries against very right wing candidates.

i think the ppugs go way right- santorum, frist (ha ha ha), Brownback... don't matter to, they're all interchangeable.

look for a woman; no a latino VP candidate.

but by 2008, i think anyone they throw out there will be a hoover in a time when we need a roosevelt.

and anyway, as i have posted here often; 2006 and 2008 don't really matter since the dems have been uniformly unwilling to fight for the right of enfranchisement in a vocal and consistent and passionate way.

the message to the a lot of the 59 mil who voted was that we won't fight for your right to have your vote counted, the message to the country is that Dems will roll over again (third federal election in 4 years), and finally the messgae to the pugs is that they can get away with it.

so all of the above has been an exercise in frustration.
kinda like watching this election get stolen.

i dont like repubs. by any means. but if we wanted a repub. john mccain is the man b/c he is by far the most liberal. besides that, he prolly voted for john kerry czu we all know how much he hates bush.

It would be pretty surprising if he voted for Kerry after that. I doubt he did. Hagel, I'm pretty sure, did vote for Kerry. He never endorsed him for president and referred in the Washington Post to the current leadership as "incompetent." He's also been on the Sunday talk show circuit with Biden for some time. Those two are quite the tag team. Both trash Bush, but Hagel is more subtle about it.

& she said the White House wondered what McCain wanted in return for his support, & he said "nothing."

Folks, McCain supported the Chimp because he is a Loyal Republican.

Also, he's Not moderate...he's conservative. On some issues he's REFORM minded, & because he sometimes sides against Republicans, he's considered a maverick, but he's not moderate.

on why he supported Bush. I was simply speculating, but Gerry Falwell certainly doesn't share your view of McCain as conservative vs. moderate. Anyway, I never mentioned the term. I despise such labels. They are meaningless.

Whether or not Hagel gets the nomination will depend a lot on the state of Bush's influence in 2008. If the Republicans want out of Iraq by then, they'll pick Hagel. But if Bush wields much power then, they'll bury him.

The nomination is going to be between Bill Owens, Mitt Romney, George Pataki, Rudy Giuliani, and Bill Frist. I think it will go to one of the Governors (Owens, Romney, or Pataki).

He's kind of a sleeper candidate right now, but he could have a lot of appeal to the Republicans. I know it won't be Rudy or Pataki. If the Republican Party of 1964 rejected Nelson Rockefeller, the Republican Part of 2004 will reject those two.
