<WASHINGTON (AP) - Senator Mark Dayton is urging President Bush to investigate why more armored vehicles were not ordered for U-S troops overseas.
The company providing the vehicles says it could make more of them, contradicting Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's assertion that the Pentagon is getting the vehicles as quickly as possible.
Armor Holdings says it can produce another 50 to 100 more vehicles per month.
The Minnesota Democrat says Bush should get resignations from every official responsible for failing to order and distribute the maximum possible numbers of armored vehicles and armor retrofit kits since the war in Iraq began.
White House spokesman Jim Morrell declined to directly address Dayton's call for an investigation but says the Pentagon is moving to purchase more armored vehicles.>
