Alberto Gonzalez
White House counsel Alberto Gonzalez is Bush's nominee for US Attorney General.
On Friday's "Mike Malloy Show" on Air America, the radio host criticized Alberto Gonzalez.
Malloy referred to a Nat Hentoff article, "Cloud Over the Constitution" (Village Voice, December 10, 2004.)
Malloy said Gonzalez always tells Bush what he wants to hear: imprison Americans indefinitely without charges; torture non-Americans in custody.
Malloy said Gonzalez is "really a fascist" and "will make people yearn for the good old days" of John Ashcroft.
Malloy said the Democrats in the Senate should filibuster against the confirmation of Gonzalez as US Attorney General.
Malloy said he won't consider himself a member of the Democratic Party anymore unless Democrats stop Gonzalez's confirmation; Malloy said he won't donate to the Democratic National Committee if the Senate Democrats don't block Gonzalez's confirmation.
Malloy said he isn't going to ask people to write the Senators on the Judiciary Committee.
I will though. If any of the Senators below are from your state, please write them (email addreses at www.vote-smart.org) or call them through the Capitol Hill Switchboard, 1-800-839-5276, asking to be transferred to that Senator's office, and leaving a message.
Tell them to oppose Alberto Gonzalez's promotion to Attorney General.
