also get ME flamed. I was ABB the whole time. Still am. But I think we would have done a hell of a lot better if Clark had prevailed (and I live in the only state, Oklahoma, where he won the Dem primary...how weird is that? That said, I do NOT believe Chimp won the election fair and square...there was a LOT of fraud, vote manipulation and criminal activity. Gephardt was too cozy with the right-wingers. Other than Dean, and to an extent, Kucinich, our candidates were too pussy-whipped to raise the necessary hell. I will be making another post where I contend this 'result' may well be the best possible scenario at the present moment. Stay tuned. ;-)

Bush is a man that promotes and rewards those that fail and in essence are the cause of deaths of our own. (I'm not even going to go into the many more deaths of those not Americans) I mean Rumsfeld, Tenet and Rice-just for starters.

Once Kerry was picked, I did my best to support him along with the rest of you.

In my heart of hearts though, I was determined to chastise anything he did that wasn't traditionally Democratic. I was prepared to hold his feet to the fire to ensure he didn't enact any of those DLC ideas.

I figured he was much better than a republican/neocon, but certainly NOT the best we could do...

Clark lost because he didn't compete in Iowa.

Gephardt lost because his message fell flat in Iowa when he and Dean decided to run negative ads against each other.

Exit polls in Iowa showed voters were firmly ABB and seriously thought that Kerry and Edwards had the best chance to defeat Bush, so they voted for those candidates overwhelmingly.

19. I get the feeling that the Nomination process/DNC/DLC/think tanks et al

are the ONLY ones who get to "promote" "A Candidate" ...it's out of the hands of the every day people. They hold the power, the money, the advertising, the clout..THEY decide whom they feel will "be best" FOR US and jocky that candidate to the front...........after that, it's left to chance. :mad:

A Democratic friend of mine said to me before the elections: 'Why can't "The Democrats" select a better candidate'. That says it all. "The Democrats"?..who was she referring to? --->THE THINK TANKS, FOCUS GROUPS, CHAIRMANSHIPS, CONVENTIONERS...NOT us.

I HATE our system of elections. It's screwed up. I'm for abolishing the electoral college and going to one man one vote. Most votes wins.

I'm also in favor of outlawing all professional lobbyists and emplementing term limits on Senators and abolishing political districting.

If most Dems thought Clark would have had a better chance of winning, we would have nominated him. OF COURSE.

Personally, Kerry was my third choice after Clark and Dean. But everyone was so much better than * that the distinction between them all was totally minor.
