of this misadministration on Iraq. And the fact that Bush is fighting to KEEP Rumsfailed connects Bush to these failures more and more.

I gotta disagree with you on this, matcom. We should keep calling for his resignation and keep watching as Bush keeps trying to defend and therefore connects himself to these failures even more. I think it's important that Dems also talk about how Bush will keep Rumsfailed no matter what he does because Bush AGREES with him.

The only reason Rumsfeld is still there is because shrub can't replace him. If he were to replace him the American people ( those that support shrub) would view it as a path to success. In this case, though, Rummy was clearly making decisions that he wanted to make and he certainly has alternatives if he wanted to step down quietly. Not quite the same as a private carrying out orders. So I have no pity for him and think he should resign, but that the call (and the buck) doesn't stop there.

as our Secretary of Defense. Whether or not it makes the Bush administration look good or not, we have got to make some progress in Iraq. Wishing for Rumsfield to stay at the helm is, IMHO, like asking for continued prisoner abuse, continued American troops deaths, continued chaos in Iraq, etc. I just can't wish for that. Rumsfield is already going to go down as one of history's villains. We can't wish for the death to continue.
