How to get Democrats back in power

Drive a wedge through the "religious" Republicans and the "Greedy" Republicans. These people really have nothing in common. If we can get the "religious" Republicans to break off into their own "Christian" party, then we get back the power. This is our best bet. We just have to convince this emerging "Christian" sect that the Republicans only use them to get elected which is not far from the truth. They'll get pissed that nothing is getting done and they will bail. Remember Judge Moore in Alabama? He wanted to run for office in a religious party because he thought the Republicans weren't protecting him. On the other side, moderate voices in the Republican party are starting to speak up as well. Let's fan these flames, shall we?

Start calling them Liberal Republicans to create that very clear wedge in the party. Shame them by labeling the entire Republican Party as Talibornagains. Once we get that done, finish them off by turning the Talibornagains against the corporates.

9. I know, it's Catch-22

I think there might be a little hope though. Think of it this way, Murdoch is by no means a Fundie, he's just a good old fashinoned reactionary. The Fox network is one of the networks most frequently decried by the Fundie crowd. Now, all of the other networks aren't explicitly right wing, they just saw how quickly Fox News started to bring in really high ratings, and played monkey see, monkey do. All of the major networks are too scared to start speaking out against the war for fear of being branded 'unamerican' and thus losing viewers. Have you noticed that whenever they have to report facts that aren't flattering to Bushco, they always seem to have this apoligetic tone about it, as if there sorry they have to tell you the truth from time to time?

So the moral is, I think if we can shift public perception just enough so that being against the war doesn't make you against America, then the major networks (besides Fox) will start playing fair. If they can be convinced that taking a stance against Bushco will not lose them ratings, and might even gain them some ratings, then they'll do it, because ad revenue is all they're really loyal to.

I think we're already making strides in this direction. In my experience, I no longer see as many people convinced that you can't be anti-war and still want the best for you're country.

US on election day to keep them from remotely changing vote tallies in the computers that read punch cards, optical scan ballots, and, of course, touchscreen machines. Kerry would've won easily if we had done that on 11/2/04.

6. I think you are right. but it won't be easy

the corporate interests made a conscious decision in the late 70s to marry their agenda with that of the religious right. They rightly calculated that the fundamentalists would be willing to sacrifice their own economic well being if it means injecting more of their own religion into government. The corporate interests are willing to accept this agenda because if you have enough money it doesn't really apply to you (e.g., pregnant teenage daughter? fly her to Europe. drug addicted son? a friendly judge will send them to a treatment facility, etc.)

Trying to split them up is the way to go, but it won't be easy. Maybe some of us should infiltrate the Reform party and try to help it grow.

2) point out how Clinton and the DNC created MILLIONS of jobs, not unemployment

4) as Harry S Truman said if you want to live like a Republican, vote Democrat --- so just prove to the populace how it is FAR more advantageous to vote DNC

there are many good ways to win support for dem/liberal/progressive views but they all rely on getting the message out. We lack a means to get the message out because repubs own and control practically all of the mainstream media.

12. Actually, I think it should about how to get" We the People" in power

period. There are many of us who think corruption is rampant in our government and The ONLY people I will ever trust are those that speak for "We The People." I'm sure I won't be the only person taking down names of all those representatives and Senators who both OPPOSE and SUPPORT the electoral certification on Jan 6. We should look to those who OPPOSE the electoral certification on that day as leaders we should support, regardless of the party they are affiliated with. I have not hidden the fact that I am a Kerry supporter, but I am also a supporter of a government based on the needs of "We the People." Throughout this whole election process, I have gained new respect for many in what I considered un-electable parties. This country needs to commit itself to a "re-birth." We need to lead the way and right the wrongs of the past. I believe that the 911 attacks were designed to do exactly what they have done, take the money out of the hands of the "newly successful." Prior to 911, there was a growing number of business men and women that were not a part of "American aristocracy." Thier voices and thier pocketbooks were quite successfully silenced on that day. If ANY poitician wishes to continue to take "We the People" down this path of destruction, I WILL NOT support that candidate!

13. Quit pushing for ANY gun control. Push for tougher enforcement of illegal

immigration laws.

These are popular issues and, somehow, Dems have gotten on the wrong side of them.

These two issues are near and dear to rural folks' hearts. And those are the folks that Dems need to serinade.

Also more Dems need to speak out *against* the Patriot Acts and against things that conservatives (who agree with the Democratic base on many things, actually) see as leading America towards a totalitarian state.

Dems must stay pro-choice and talk about ways to reduce abortions through social programs, rather than through oppression.

The Democratic leadership needs to LISTEN to the Democratic base. WE are on the ground. WE are the folks who have to talk Repugs into becoming Dems. LISTEN to us and quit treating us like we're ignorant.
