Suggestion for a different use of words for Edwards

He was on CNN - I think, I was surfing all of them - and was saying that he is better than Bush because Bush just comes to town and gives a talk, while he, Edwards, talks to people and listens to their problems.

Since Edwards wants to continue to project an image of hope and optimism, I think that instead of talking about people's "problems" he should talk about their hopes and aspirations.

It amounts to the same thing but, I think, can change the message a bit.

What do others think?

1. People are having problems though.

"Hopes and aspirations" doesn't convey that people have problems and are looking for solutions -- and this is what people are doing, they're telling him how America isn't working for them.

5. good idea but its important to note that they DO have problems

to which he offers solutions. this is a sales pitch, have to demonstrate the consumer's need for your product.

8. why not say all of them? It's an aspiration to get the job you want

and be treated well while there, for some people. For some people, it's an aspiration to have good schools for your children. It's an aspiration to live in neighborhoods where there is a sense of community. In a sense, Edwards needs to know what people's aspirations for the good life are, and to know what barriers are keeping them from achieving them. If candidates simply assume they know what people want, they may learn they are mistaken.

2. Edwards message of hope

is really important. People are tired of living in fear from this administration. We need to hope and work to change this administration for all our sakes.

3. Edwards is a magnificent Schmoozer. He sure got my $$$'s here in NC

when he ran for Senate. I thought he was a Savior after Lauch Faircloth (the Agribusiness King, whom he replaced.)

Edwards then immediately started running for President and forgot his "little folks." But then, maybe the "big things on his mind" made him feel he would just "get around to us when he had the prize."

6. I was watching him work a crowd on cspan

He reminded me of Clinton with the sincere handshake, gracious smile, deep and personal look in the eyes of every single person stuff. The guy is good.

4. When I saw Edwards in Derry, NH he offered help to very many

of the members of the audience. I was stunned that he would take ten or fifteen minutes after his speech and listen to, then offer advice/help to those who approached him.

He is APPROACHABLE, and boy did that resonate. He should be talking about peoples problems and how they can be solved, and how he can apply that solution to the masses. It's a GREAT way to show his take on the issues and how he plans to correct the course of the country.

He snubbed my handshake though :(

But I'm not bitter. I am thrilled he did so well lat night and look forward to the NH primary.
